What just happened? (postcount changes)

Last night, I rose past 700 posts and I was a too late Initiate. But now, I'm back on ~700 and I'm a monochrome Initiate? It's not that I care (quite frankly, I couldn't be bothered with posting to become a new Initiate — I just like to post a lot :laugh), because I only dropped about 10 posts. I was just wondering what happened? :\

LeButler 30th December 2005 08:23 PM

Some of your posts were probably in threads that have just been moved into the Posting Games Forum. Posts there are not included in your postcount.

wow if thats teh case... u hade 700 posts just in games Winterkill? thats not good :laugh

Ayumi no Yume 31st December 2005 02:51 AM

It say's you're a "too late" now.
Wonder what happened..

Mad_Cactuar 31st December 2005 04:54 AM

Oh, threads are still being moved there.. Ok, thats good I guess.

It could also have been something being moved to the Trash Can, or some duplicate posts/threads being deleted.

boogieordie 31st December 2005 05:52 PM

Some of that was me merging a quadruple posting by you in the MS paint thread. The rest is probably what skal said.

fεяnαndδ 4th January 2006 04:33 PM

It wasn't the quadruple post, no. I was aware of that. But thanks anyway guys, it doesn't really matter. XD

Oohhh that makes sense now; I was going to ask a question about that just now [was going to make a thread in this forum]. Alrighty, thanks for the information....but are most of the members aware of this fact [posting in the "Posting Games Forum" does not go towards postcount]? Maybe the admins/mods should make a sticky thread in that forum about it...o_o If there's already a sticky about this, I must have missed it :(

does that means if we accidently double post the same content in different pages, the extra posts would be counted until it's in the trash?
what happens if the 1st post is in page 3, while the other page 10? this could happen when members forgot that they had already posted the same thing.

nmskalmn 18th January 2006 05:30 PM

Post made in or moved to "Trash Can" and "Posting Games" do not contribute to your post count. If a moderator deletes a post or thread those posts are subtracted from your post count.

fεяnαndδ 19th January 2006 10:24 AM

Well, it just happened again. I guess I posted something unnecessary? :/

Mad_Cactuar 19th January 2006 12:48 PM

Heck, your post average is rising ever so quickly and mines flopping like old celery.

I think that happenes when you open multiple windows and post very quickly. It happened to me wayyy back.

Yep.. that's what happens when you power post.. >_>

Tsk tsk.

I think I'm at like five per day. Haha.

chibi_sunny 10th June 2006 07:56 PM

I'm having this problem right now: Yesterday, when I checked, my post count was 1599, but now it says 1596 (Clearly, I'm over 1600). I didn't double post, post in the Games Forum, or have any in the Trash Can. Can someone help me with this?

HanabiChick 10th June 2006 09:25 PM

Perhaps you posted in a thread that was moved to the Games section, the What had you just ate? thread was moved in there, and if you posted in it those posts would be automatically removed from your post count. Or some thread you posted in might have been moved to the Trash Can. Usually those are the reasons for losing posts.

chibi_sunny 10th June 2006 10:02 PM

^No, like I said before, I didn't post in any thread like that, and in my knowledge, none of them were moved.
Edit: Right now, there doesn't seem to be a problem, but I am a couple of posts behind. :shrug Hope it doesn't go down again.

HanabiChick 10th June 2006 10:32 PM

You can go into your profile and click 'Find all posts by chibi_sunny' to see where you posted in - I had a look before I posted and I noticed you had posted in the What had you just ate? thread a couple of weeks ago, so that's part of it at least :yes You could check how many times you posted in a thread by hovering your cursor over the little folder image next to a thread title in a forum - it will tell you how many times you have posted in a thread. Another reason could be double posts - because of the server, people have made some double posts without realising it, a mod might have come along and merged them or deleted them. Sometimes it's just something you might not be aware of :)

chibi_sunny 10th June 2006 10:53 PM

^ Wow, that was so long ago though! But thank you for your help and tips. I hope that's the reason why my post count messed up at least. Now that I think about it, I had some problems with posting lately (maybe resulting in double posts), but I usually go back to see to check if there are doubles. My post folder didn't show any double posts either.
Thanks again.
