Raleigh 29th March 2006 09:48 PM

What, you expected it to sale better instead of dropping? I think it's kinda obvious it's dropping. It's on it's 13th week...

Mad_Cactuar 29th March 2006 09:56 PM

^ Yes I expected it to sell better like Western albums and box office takings after their prime. I just don't figure out how the interest is keep on diminishing. Did Avex pull out all the promotion or something?

Probably so. The promotion wasn't even big in the start. What a shame...

I HIGHLY doubt that the promotion wasn't big...when I was in Japan last year, there were advertisements and billboards for My Story all over the place. You can't really say promotion wasn't big unless you live in Japan and see all of the (or lack of) advertisements.

Well, in the start, there was very little magazine shoots and live performances. All the magazines covers and performances went to the "B&D" single. That's already something.

Aisha_Angel 29th March 2006 10:40 PM

hmm well...it's better as far as how long it took MY STORY to hit 1,000,000. So yeah, just look at it that way I guess...

evildede 29th March 2006 11:37 PM

I don't think anyone should care about sales anyway. As long as you like her music that's what counts. But I think that 850,000 sales is still pretty good and with time it'll probably cross the million.

Qt Mashi 30th March 2006 12:11 AM

thanks for the info, the sales are expected and i don't think the tour changed anything about the sales

well... she was on around 10 magazines around the time of the release... she just should have done lives, I think.

How do movies do better after the first week again?

Western albums stay on the charts for the weeks because singles off the albums are released gradually to boost the sales of the albums. For Japan, the singles were all released before the albums so albums start high and drop low.

I clearly did not state that it was supposed to do better than the first week. After some time, box office takings become stable and they earn aound the same amount of money (obviously not much) but for many weeks.

(M)U isn't doing that though. Probably too much to expect it to sell continuously, but I do hope the sales become stable soon. I know it obviously isn't like western albums where albums stay on charts for very very long (Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. is still there in the top 100) but it isn't doing like Ai Otsuka's stable sales in her albums.

truehappiness 30th March 2006 09:31 AM

When you think about it, it has been 13 weeks o-o That's more than 3 months, so.. it's expected to not be that high. It's amazing that we can still get the sales numbers :p

jasjasss 30th March 2006 09:59 AM

i just blame this on promotion ...
the promotion song that she used to promote this album was
let me think .. hm .. the lowest selling single B&D ~
+ She didnt even perform new songs from the new album like M(U) or Rainy Day ~ at least for MY STORY , she sung walking proud !!
