What's Ayumi's vocal range?

Anyone know? :love

Oh man, this is difficult. From what I can hear though, she's straining her voice in inspire (So it's probably as low as she gets) and she gets pretty high in.. um.. I don't know. WHATEVER? Someone help me out on this.

She's really high in kanariya

Syphex 18th April 2006 01:05 AM

Kanariya had a lot of issues with it, so don't use it as an example. I remember hearing that the composer wanted it to be even higher then what is now but ayu just couldn't reach it, AND it was synthesized beyond belief (so it probably wouldn't sound strained) This is the sole reason why it's a "bonus track" on LOVEppears and why she never performs it live.

I learned something today.

hopeorpain 18th April 2006 01:22 AM

happy ending is pretty "up there"

stardusties 18th April 2006 01:41 AM

i'd say like 3 or 4 octaves :3

xACIDxHEADx 18th April 2006 03:53 AM

well, so far , i think the highest note she hit (belted out with chest voice not head voice) is the F5 in Duty. Otherwise, I've never really heard her sing in her head voice very high, so do you mean how high she can "belt"? because if you just mean her overall notes (including head voice), many ppl can probly hit through the whistle range.

devilayu 18th April 2006 04:04 AM

Hard to say. Her range has changed over the years, so pointing out songs from different Ayumi eras doesn't really answer the question. Unless it's written somewhere in an article (which I doubt), all anyone can do is speculate.

What about that note in Fly High, the "zutto" what is that? i dont think its her highest note, it just always comes to mind.

so many of her songs are "up there" I know that there are some songs that I have to be in falsetto to sing...but then i dont have the best range.

isn't the F5 her lowest note? im looking at the score and theres an F thats WAY low, below the staff, its probably not the ur talking about.

alternarist 18th April 2006 10:14 AM

i dotn know anything about music.. but how about the chorus of Moments. it sounds quite high..

sexysaucestar 18th April 2006 10:56 AM

^ It's partly synthesized in that song....I've sang the song at karaoke before (in original key) and it wasn't that bad/high at all. ^^

alternarist 18th April 2006 11:22 AM

^ LOL. it's high for me though.. i tried singing it once and i cant reach it AT ALL!

sexysaucestar 18th April 2006 01:18 PM

^ Perhaps it's because you have a deeper voice? :shrug I don't have a typical voice for a girl (as in, I don't have one of those really shrill, high-pitched voices) and I could still sing the "Moments" chorus...hmm.

ayu_ready? 20th April 2006 05:40 PM

I dunno
but her voice isn't weak, right?!
(I don't get anything in music :P )

i bet she is a mezzo soprano... she has a mid range voice... cuz she can sing low and high but not extremely low or extremely high... but i don't kno like if she's a low F to a high C or whatever...

I think "II Soprano" and "I Soprano" and "II Alto" and "I Alto" aren't based on the notes that you can hit, but whether you are able to do harmonies well or the notes that you're most comfortable with.

interesting question!

perfectdeath 25th April 2006 04:02 PM

i've always wondered about her range as well... can anyone compare it to anyone else? like utada or boa perhaps

fεяnαndδ 30th April 2006 11:26 PM

Her vocal range doesn't even COMPARE to my sister's. x_x
