Why is everyone releasing remix albums but not AYU?

Ayu is the queen of REMIX ALBUMS! I mean, a HUGE amount of her fans have come to know her from her remixes and remix albums... Well, I know that her last run of the albums didn't do to well on the charts, but I don't think these lesser known or less popular artists releasing remix albums can do much better, can they? I mean, I love Ami Suzuki and her mixes but her remix album could not have done better than anything Ayu would do. And all these other artists I am constantly reading about "New REMIX album"... If Avex is willing to take chances on releasing remix albums for these artists, why not with AYU? I mean, she put them where they are today! I just don't understand...

From what I've heard she is the worlds most remixed female artist, I don't know if the source can be trusted because I don't remember where I heard it.

It was a long time ago she released her last RMX album, I also want her to release a new one :).

ME TOO, I wanna see a 3 Disk RMX album, lol that contains a whole lotta songs...YES her remix are something that I DEFINITELY got into also...A LOT of my friends know her ONLY because of her Remixes, none of the original pieces, all remixes...even on their ipods "I don't know who this is, but she got some really great remixes"

alternarist 30th May 2006 04:51 AM

haha. i heard that 2002 - 2003 was the period that ayu isnt doing that much. and her RAINBOW album didnt sell that well (i think so). thats why the RMX remix that came after that didnt sell well either. hence that may be why AVEX didnt wanna release any remix album for ayu anymore. even MY STORY Classical wasnt that good.

LacusClyne 30th May 2006 04:54 AM

though i do not like remixes, i must admit that ayu's remix is the best. those others i had heard are crap...

Ayu's remixes are definitely the best...I'm kind of frusterated now because I'm trying to get all her remixes through downloads...and there's just SO many...its so difficult to label which ones go where...I think the best thing to do would actually be to buy the albums.

I wish she would still produce singles like kanariya and AUDIENCE, that have like 10 remix tracks. Why did she stop doing these too?

Maybe she feels that remixes aren't part of her career anymore. Maybe they were from only that part of her career and now she wants to look in a new direction.

Well Avex is letting artists such as Ami to release remix albums and her original album sold less than 200k (I think).

Plus I thought MY STORY classical was awesome! Ayu's remix albums used to sell VERY WELL... like how eurobeat broke the million mark XD I thought that was awesome :P I think Ayu just doesn't want anymore remix albums... atleast we still get remixes on singles!

Daking 30th May 2006 09:24 AM

must have more remix albums... must have more ayu...

chibi_sunny 30th May 2006 03:08 PM

no, thats not true actually. if anyone is the most remixed female artist, its probably madonna.

spacelion 30th May 2006 03:52 PM

The last remix albums sold as much as STEP you/is this LOVE? Which is kind of low for an album ^.^;; Which is why I don't think they will be doing anymore.

Yep. You're right. Although I think Ayu is the most remixed Japanese/Asian Artist.

Most likely so, but Ayu is probably "up there" somewhere.

MY STORY Classical Diden't do that bad. If you take into consideration the fall in sales and commpare its chart position to the former AO albums, it did pretty good.

I don't think we'll have any more eurobeat remixes sadly, eurobeat is not selling very well anymore and was the album dropping the most compared to the others.

Daking 31st May 2006 11:26 AM

i would think that making an ayu remix album would sell relatively well compared to most other artists, it won't make as much she would've 5 yrs ago but still i think it'd make a decent profit if they ever choose to.

There are a few reasons avex isn't doing this anymore.

1) They know the remixes get ayu alot of attention, but it's extra attention that's unneeded and not worth the money it takes to produce remix albums. It pleases the fans, yes, but that doesn't change how much income avex gets. The fans already buy everything (as they've proven through releasing multiple versions of singles & albums... all the suckers --and yes, you know who you are, you're suckers for it, pardon my saying so-- are still buying them. No point in making you happy with remix albums if you're already giving avex all that money, and singles are much cheaper to produce).
2) Remix albums cost ALOT to make, since each individual remixer needs to be commissioned & paid for the work. Again, no point in doing it since avex doesn't make enough of a return off that investment.
3) They don't want MORE attention & focus on ayu; having one artist as your principal source of revenue is very dangerous, since a backlash against that artist would result in the collapse of your label. So they're putting the emphasis on other Avex artists.

I like the remixes, 'cos my favourite genre is electronic and the most of the remixes are trance/dance/house versions. I hope that they will release more remix albums one day.

I came to know Ayu by remixes and first song I listened so many times were Depend on You Svenson & Gielen remix and it's still one of the best remixes, imo.

First I though that Ayu makes only trance -songs and I didn't know they were just remixes! :D
