About 21/6

I'm sorry but the release date of BLUE BIRD is still bothering me. Come to think about it, her summer singles are always, regularly, even definitely released in July or August every year. Like A, H, &, INSPIRE and fairyland. Don't tell me it's because Startin'/Born To Be... was released earlier than before. At least they can make it early July or sumthing. I'm not sure if the sales has something to do with the release date but, does it really mean that avex is no longer focusing on Ayu?:shakehead Prove me wrong.

BTW Maybe we'll have four singles this year again? That would be the only positive thing.

truehappiness 11th June 2006 09:45 AM

Well, it could always be because any other date would put Ayu into a strange position.. :/ #1 ranking wise. :3

She did release in June for YOU and SEASONS too.. so it's been quite a while. x3

I think it was strategically placed. :D

Tasked 11th June 2006 09:47 AM

It's just a frickin' release date.. Probably this will even BOOST the sales, because now she doesn't have to release at the same time as other succesful artist's summer singles...
And besides. Fairyland was in august.. that made HEAVEN very close to fairyland (3/8 and 14/9) which also wasn't the smartest thing..

bluegie 11th June 2006 09:47 AM

i dun see what's the difference of releasing the single in June or July. It doesn't really matter to me as long as the sales are good and she's making No. 1...

Daking 11th June 2006 10:08 AM

I don't see a problem either, summer as amatter of fact starts in June and as the previous post says there have been other singles released in june so its no big deal.

truehappiness 11th June 2006 10:39 AM

Actually, HEAVEN sold more than fairyland in the long run despite fairyland's high [highest] debut of Ayu's 2005 single year. :D

nanami606 11th June 2006 11:42 AM

summer starts on the 21st of June.

I thought it was kind of fun to see all of her old competition except Utada releasing on the same day. Morning musume and Mai Kuraki managed to keep far away and vogue (if my memory serves me right) from number one.

Even though both morning musume and mai kuraki also release good songs (actually I think there are so many good songs to be released this summer, Ambitious is MM best song in a long time, so is Mai Kuraki's diamond wave) I don't think they'll keep her from the numberone spot this time. =P

Dustie 11th June 2006 01:12 PM

I think she will debut at no. 1, she's been doing so for a long row of singles now... and I seriously doubt MM will enter the top. 5, they're really... not popular recently, sorta going down (like the rest of H!P). BLUE BIRD sounds more catchy thatn Ambitious IMO.

freedreamer 11th June 2006 03:24 PM

Ayu will deifintely be no.1...

Summer..i think its ok in June...But that it also mean that if the third a-side is not a summer song then it would most prob release in September...if not maybe late august..where summer just end

hallelujah_united 11th June 2006 03:56 PM

I guess in the end it's still the quality of the single that will determine the overall sales. But it really seems that avex put the release date on 21/6 just to make sure that the streak goes on.

micster 11th June 2006 04:00 PM

Avex are stupid

If they want Hitomi Shimatani to succeed then why release her new single on the same day as ayu's.

And whats even stupider is that originally hitomi's single was supposed to come out at a different time earlyer in the month. Yet it was pushed back to compete with ayu it seems

Sorry for the rant but yah

Actually it has to do with the fact the Startin' was released earlier. The time gap would've been too long if it was released later. Plus, there arn't that many release dates left for her to get #1. June 21st is the perfect date to do that.

avex isn't dumb. They probably already know that putting these 2 specific artists together, it won't affect sales for any 2 of the artists.

bluegie 11th June 2006 10:02 PM

i agree.. hitomi doesn't need to get no. 1. she only needs her fans to buy her singles, and i believe that her fans are really different from ayu's fans..

truehappiness 12th June 2006 03:45 AM

I don't think hitomi really needs the no.1s anyway. If she gets them that's incredible~ but that doesn't change the fact that her music is amazing~ :D

Same for all the other people who deserve #1s but they don't get them. :>

alternarist 15th June 2006 08:27 PM

hm.. i thought avex jus wanted to release it at a date close to her last concert of her arena tour so that ayu can use the opportunity to promote her new single? as you know, she performed BLUE BIRD during the last performance.

That is very true, :yes. Releasing it in connection with the ending of her tour, when TV and news is talking about her all over Japan, is a smart move.
