If you want something good and non jpop listen to Emilie Simon. Download/watch Fleur De Saison. She has a bjork-ish rock thing going on. Her lyrics for her english songs are semi-tounge and cheek at times. I enjoy her works a lot.

I'd recommend Delta Goodrem. She has some nice little tunes, and I loved the duet she did with Brian McFadden.

You might also like Tourbillon, which actually has Inoran and Ryuichi as members.

You could try Kiyokiba Shunsuke [ex EXILE vocalist]. He's released an album and few singles. It's soft americanish rock...
