help finding covers of Ayu songs on CD

I'm looking for CDs by other singers containing cover versions of Ayu songs.

These have been mentioned in forum:

S.H.E. - About You (Chinese)
S.H.E. - Dearest (Chinese)
My Tam - Depend on you (Vietnamese)
Amanda Qin - Game (Chinese)
Angela Ann - TO BE (Chinese)
Shino Lin - End roll (Chinese)

Could anyone show me which CDs these (and any others you know of) are on? Please link to yesasia if possible.

I know that Shino's cantonese cover of "End roll" is on "This is Shino 3":

It's track three on that album.
She has a mandarin cover of it called "Shei dou ai" but I don't remember which CD it's on.

My Tam's cover of Depend on you is the title track on her single "Ban Mai Tinh Yeu". No idea where you can buy that, though.

The S.H.E songs are Xing Guang [about you...ish cover]~
http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.asp...id-1004074682/ It is the first track on the CD portion as well as the DVD. [Album is the Reaching for the Stars OST, for a drama they did..]

And the fifth track on http://us.yesasia.com/en/PrdDept.asp...id-1004097886/ , their Once Upon A Time album, titled "Yue Gui Nu Shen" or Bay Tree Goddess is the supposed Dearest cover.

:)

Vietnamese CDs...you can get them in areas of Vietnamese concentration...

Garden Grove in CA and some parts of LA's Chinatown sell lots of CDs. The CDs may have lower production values so they may look bootleg. I have no idea how to distinguish boot from real lol.

Um, what state do you live in?

nmskalmn 19th September 2006 11:56 AM

Thanks everyone. :)

Even if I found a store selling Vietnamese CDs I wouldn't know what to look for. Anyone ever seen a picture of the My Tam CD?

If no one manages to find a pic, I recommend writing the artist and song name on the piece of paper and showing it to store owners lol.

Umm, I did a little googling and I didn't find the cd, but apparently the song appears in a few compilation DVDs. Vietnamese music is big on compilation concerts (ala a-nation).

As for locations, umm in Garden Grove you just drive through the right area and there are stores everywhere I think...and chinatown, there's this marketplace that is tented and there are a buncha random shops lining some walkways. Lemme ask my mom when she gets home. Maybe I can pinpoint some exact locations.

or instead of getting separate cds, you get find this 2 songs in 'SHE Forever New+Best of Selection'. and there's the pv of 'xing gua' too. which is said to be a cover also. plus, this is a better album, you get to hear their good songs too. take this instead!

xing guang is track 15
yue gui nu shen is track 17

truehappiness 20th September 2006 02:53 AM

I forgot about the FOREVER best lol

I didn't know if it had the songs.. :p

LacusClyne 20th September 2006 03:13 AM

^well, there are a total of 17 somngs and a nice DVD with 7pvs. a better buy. even me who hardly by SHE albums now, bought this...

HiruNoKaze 20th September 2006 05:10 AM

Ok so for Vietnamese music, if you're close by, Bolsa Ave. in Santa Ana. CDs stores everywhere. Just drive down the street and pick em out lol.

truehappiness 20th September 2006 05:58 AM

Eh, I dunno.. it might be full of the more recent things since the My Tam song was years ago..

Delirium-Zer0 20th September 2006 06:41 AM

Here's the page for the single on My Tam's official site: http://www.mytam.info/modules/genera...&program_id=61

Dunno if the image shown is the cover or a poster or what.

A quick note. for those who are curious, the mandarin romanization of "wa wa ai tian xia"'s title is kinda incorrect, since the song is in cantonese you wouldn't want to use pinyin. "Wa wa oi teen ha" or something like that would be better for it. That's how I'd probably name the file.

HiruNoKaze 20th September 2006 09:14 AM

^Oh, good job!
TH: Actually I think those stores usually have a lot of old CDs sitting around from ye olden days. You live pretty close by there, don't you?

truehappiness 21st September 2006 12:02 AM

Yes, I do.

But I don't dare step into them, for fears of Vietnamese music haunt me..

nmskalmn 21st September 2006 02:51 AM

I found an online store with My Tam CDs. Thanks once again.

lol I sure don't blame you :). Production values of Vietnamese music / performances have really gone up in recent years; I'm impressed. It still doesn't click with me though because I can't help but feel a lack of sincerity. Maybe cause I'm Vietnamese? <shrugs>

My mom knows someone who went to one of those Paris by Night compilation concerts. The person reported that it kinda sucked because it was like a TV show taping; if they messed up, they'd stop and do it over again, making the audience suffer, haha. I really appreciate the importance placed on live performance in Japan.

skal: That's really handy to have found it online. May I ask how much they are selling the CD for? An old Vietnamese CD is worth $1 at most, at least if you are considering the market consisting of these small retail stores.
