Beyonce: Which album?

Since B'Day has been out for 2 weeks already now, surely thoughts have been finalized. Hopefully conclusions are drawn too. The big question is, which album do you think is better? Here's a guide:

Dangerously In Love
+ Contains tracks like "Naughty Girl", "Me Myself & I", "Crazy In Love", "Baby Boy", "Bonnie & Clyde 03" and "Work It Out".
+ Most of the singles are major hits worldwide.
+ Very entertaining up-tempo tracks and lots of ballads for those who like ballads.
- Too many dreary, unappealling ballads.
- Moves too slow due to too many ballads.
- BALLADS, BALLADS, BALLADS, BLAH BLAH, ARRGGHHH.
- Inconsistent.

B'Day
+ Contains tracks like "Deja Vu", "Ring The Alarm", "Irreplaceable", "Get Me Bodied", "Upgrade U", "Check On It" and "Freakum Dress".
+ Very, very chaotic and experimental.
+ Strong and crazy vocals.
+ Fast, abrupt, over before you know it.

I... chose B'Day only SLIGHTLY over Dangerously in Love, if only because at 15 tracks, DIL has a pointless interlude, a few bad tracks (The Closer I Get To You, Yes = boring). The other stracks are strong and good but the arrangement sucks - all but one of the uptempo tracks are packed in the beginning.

B'Day is too short, very rushed, and very sparse on ballads, but it doesn't have any WEAK tracks. Closest would be the obnoxious Freakum Dress.

I'm not a Beyonce fan, But I'd have to say B'Day. Deja Vu Rocked!

cybermoomba 24th September 2006 06:10 AM

I like B'Day more 'cause it's full of anger and sexual tension :yes

Dangerously In Love.
+ Gift From Virgo, an amazing song.
+ Signs, an amazing song.
+ Yes, an amazing song.
+ Great singles.
+ Meaningful, in my opinion.
- That's How You Like It.

B'Day.
+ About 4 okay-ish songs.
- Monotonous.
- During track 5: "Oh, I though it's track 2, silly me."
- Only 9 original songs and most sound like they're filler.

I voted for B-day but I like both of them equally. They are so different; in DIL there are more slow songs (which I really miss in B-day), but in B-day there are really powerful vocals and danceable songs, which I also appreciate.
I can't choose, I love both of them.

I prefer Dangerously in Love

B'Day doesn't even have a single filler. They're all so individual and strong that people might hate the tracks but please don't call it filler. :no It definitely ain't filler like half the tracks in Dangerously In Love. My fave ballad there is "Me, Myself & I" and "Speechless" though.

If he thinks it's filler, then he thinks it's filler. I thought The Closer I Get To You and Yes were filler. People might disagree, but that wont change my views.

I never did understand what people felt was so horrid about That's How You Like It, though. It's cute. It's catchy. It's harmless. I wonder what's so wrong about it?

Of Course B-Day!
Dangerously in Love is really boooooooring!!!

Mad_Cactuar 24th September 2006 10:26 PM

There's a difference between filler and bad tracks. You might as well call a track bad than to call it filler and demean it.

Jayee19 25th September 2006 01:43 AM

^Aren't bad tracks and fillers equally negative? Bad track moreso than filler?

I chose DIL. It's more memorable. I'm going to forget B'Day before her third album comes out (or the Dreamgirls soundtrack!Yah!)

Dangerously In Love

Dangerously In Love. There are no B'Day songs that I love, only a couple I mildly like, so yeah, it ended up being a bit of a disappointment IMO.

Bday is crazy. Deja Vu, Irraplacable, Ring the Alarm, Upgrade U and Freakum Dress are all awesome. So much engery O_o. SO funky O_o.

I haven't heard DIL though :( Crazy In Love is one of the best songs ever though.

Vinylfantasy 3rd October 2006 07:33 PM

I prefer Dangerously In Love. There aren't any tracks on B'Day that I really enjoy. I kinda like Ring the Alarm, but that's about it.

extepan 30th October 2006 07:17 AM

Dangerously In Love rules!

the fact that 'RING THE ALARM' is such an alarmingly bad song kills the new album. and 'deja vu' is not as catchy as 'crazy in love'.

bondingo 14th January 2008 03:08 AM

Well since someone brought this thread back to the front page by answering the poll, I guess I'll post my opinion here.

I vastly prefer B'Day to Dangerously In Love. B'Day has so many interesting, appealing tracks that are almost instantly enjoyable, while Dangerously In Love had far too many bland ballads that really bogged down the whole flow of the album. I pretty much only liked the singles on Dangerously In Love, while I loved quite a few tracks on B'Day (Freakum Dress was fantastic, and I loved the Circuit City exclusive bonus track Back Up more than any other album track).
