[ARTICLE]Ayu & Namie: Fashion Threaders In Japan

This article in Singapore is talking about the woman who starts the fashion threads. like ayu and namie in japan. Jolin in Taiwan, Karen Mok in honkong.

My translations:

Starting The Fashion Thread In Asia
Whenever we think about Asia fashion threads, the first one who comes to mind is Ayumi Hamasaki, the queen of sales in japan.

Ayumi Hamasaki(leopard spots and nail ar)t:
Since year 1998, Ayu had been starting unique fashion. In the streets of Tokyo, you can find numerous young girls dressing up like ayu.
In her third album, "Duty', ayu had portrait herself as a wild and sexy leopard girl, which in thus starts the 'leopard spots' thread in japan. Everything that she wore, her nail art, even a simple white tees and a pair of jeans, will start a roaring fashion thread in Japan.

Namie Amuro Brought Out The Hip-Hop Style:
But this few years, Ayu had lots of competitors. The once-very-popular, but was overtake by Ayu when she get married was her rival, Namie Amuro. Recently, Namie start to find her style in hip-hop, this is helping her to win over ayu.
But, at this moment, there are more and more competitors, like Koda Kumi, Mika Nakashima, whom had overtake Namie.
Like Taiwan, Japan had start the model craze, like Se Yuan You Li(i don't know her japanese name, so i type her han yu pin ying of the chinese) who started her career from a model to an actoress. She had already overtaken Ayumi Hamasaki. Being the new fashion threadstarter, she had also starred as the leading actoress in a japan drama with SMAP.

No 1 Beauty In Japan, Se Yuan You Li
recently, Song yuan you Li had been appearing in numerous japan media, is already the No 1 Fashion Queen among Japan highschoolers. In a lot of polls, her votes are far too high from ayumi hamasaki.
Se Yuan You Li, had been crown as the No1 Beauty in japan by the japan media, was a model, every cover she was published, never failed to sell well, breaking a record of 70 millions books. The Japan media had gave her a nickname of "small ebi', this made her the spokesperson of McDonald's Fried Prawn Burger.

Queen Of Taiwan, Jolin Tsai
While in Taiwan, Bestselling Queen, Jolin Tsai has been known as the fashion thread starter in taiwan. Other then producing her album, jolin had a talent of dressing herself up. Although a lot of critics found her style with shadows of Ayu.
But, a lot of cute girls, like Rainie Yang and Cyndi Wang had been accused of copying the threadstarters of Japan.

Makes it sell better.

But Namie is so much different than Ayu's stile. She is like... R&B queen, instead of Jpop queen (that's Ayu's title!! ^^U)

you know the funny thing is the picture is not even Namie it's Sarah Jessica Parker (it's the photo of her GAP commerical) http://www.blitzgal.com/scans/Blitz6...sicaParker.jpg

I must agree with the 'a lot of critics found her (Jolin) style with shadows of Ayu.' and the part about cute girls; 'a lot of cute girls, like Rainie Yang and Cyndi Wang had been accused of copying the threadstarters of Japan'. *cough*Otsuka Ai*cough*

Thanks for the article.

It would seem that the Taiwanese <3 Japan like no other asian... people.. :D

I think this article is a bit outdated. When my friend went to Japan just two weeks ago, she said there were Koda Kumi look-alikes EVERYWHERE on the street, consisting mostly of teenage girls. Other than that it was the Jamaican style. That Ebihara girl was also everywhere, in the form of ads and posters. No one follows Ayu anymore.

^ What's to copy? I don't think she really dresses like a young teenager anymore anyway :( My mum wears more stylish clothes than Ayu and she's 47.

Are you sure? I think people mix artists' styles, rather than dressing like just one..
