Uraayu?

What does this word mean I say it to myself over and over again but I don't understand whats the meaning of the title?

Norrel 22nd November 2006 03:16 AM

I don't know the meaning of it, but just so you know it's supposed to be pronounced

[your-ah-yu]

IYFreak 22nd November 2006 03:34 AM

yeah I know that I just wanted to know what it means

Norrel 22nd November 2006 03:38 AM

- Waits for immel or our official Ayu Encyclopedia(Delerium Zero) to tell us :P -

Ani_C 22nd November 2006 03:42 AM

I've been wondering about this too!~ -waits as well-

Ura = Tadashi Ura. He did all the illustration in the book, the dragon on the special edition cover, the speech baloons, the special effects & editing, all that. He does alot of ayu illustration & effects (the drawing-look on the vogue cover, all the TeamAyu magazine covers, the cartoony-looking ayus in the Concert Tour 2000 pamphlet, all that sort of stuff.)

And of course ayu = Ayumi Hamasaki. ^_^

Norrel 22nd November 2006 04:08 AM

Thank you Ayu-Encyclopedia!

IYFreak 22nd November 2006 04:08 AM

WOAH.......Your amazing like a god or something.I envy you.

Delirium-Zer0 22nd November 2006 04:12 AM

LOL... Oh, stop.

I will admit, this stuff gives me one heck of an ego boost... then I realize WHY I know all this stuff (that is, I have no life :P~) and I wonder if there's a paying job for crazy insane ayu fanatics x_x

IYFreak 22nd November 2006 04:16 AM

that would be so cool if they do. for now on when I have a question I should just put "A Question for Delirium-Zer0" at the top Lol.its really true like what immel says your words are law.

extepan 22nd November 2006 06:42 AM

Uraayu literally means "Inside Ayu"
but my interpretation is that the "Ura" part is MatsuURA max, while ayu is AYUmi.

so it is could be a combination of max matsuura and ayumi hamasaki.

Ura in Japanese media means off-shot. Something like a side-story or behind-the-scenes. So uraayu is supposed to be a little side story of ayu's time in the States (was it?)

immel 22nd November 2006 12:17 PM

^It was shot in Hong Kong.

Misa-chan 22nd November 2006 02:24 PM

^ Haha ok my bad. So HK it was ^^

Delirium-Zer0 22nd November 2006 02:38 PM

Could be a pun there then. But tadashi ura DID do the illustration, and the kanji used is the same kanji as his name.

immel 22nd November 2006 02:43 PM

I think the MatsuURA is a coincidence, possibly they noticed it before the release and just thought it made the name even better.

kinix 22nd November 2006 03:26 PM

I remembered URAAYU means 裏歩 which means 'inside' ayu as extepan said.
I remember think this was introduce by the media during the release of the photobook.

devilayu 26th November 2006 02:42 AM

I was told by a Japanese friend that it means "The other side of Ayu" because I wasn't quite sure what the "ura" meant either. As in, it's a side of Ayu that we hadn't seen before or that she wanted to show.

nmskalmn 26th November 2006 03:03 AM

"The other side of Ayu", that's how I remember it being explained at the time as well.

Qt Mashi 26th November 2006 07:09 AM

wow okay, i thought Ura meant something like "ultimate" xD
