Now what?

Can you believe it? Miss hamasaki... over 8 years later

I was expecting major crappage with Secret but it turned out to be a good album

I thought she had no juice left!

She's done it all. Rock, dance, ballads, pop, crappy R&B (remember the original kanariya...ew), and even gospel.

Now look, over 8 years later and wow... its really something

She's done it all! Now what?

Do you think she has any surprises left?

(I think ayu should do a jazz album LOL)

Terri 1st December 2006 08:03 PM

You know, I was getting similar feelings...

I feel that from here on Ayu can either keep doing the same things, or completely revert back to her old style.

Unfortunantely, there aren't much options left for her. No matter what she does, she is bound to repeat herself (subconciously) if she acts without having a plan.

Keishi 1st December 2006 08:21 PM

OMG yes. Please do some jazz music, Ayu. O_O

AND HIP HOP W00T. MORE NOTHING FROM NOTHING AYU!!! XD

Vinylfantasy 1st December 2006 08:22 PM

Jazz would be really interesting. I think she could make it work.

chocopockymaster 1st December 2006 08:32 PM

Jazz...I could get behind that. Mika pulled it off really well, it would be interesting to see what Ayu could do with it. I don't think it's like anything she's done before.

Terri 1st December 2006 08:33 PM

Do you guys think Ayu even likes jazz music?

*Petit* 1st December 2006 09:03 PM

I woulden't really mind bouncy dance tracks like the ones on LOVEppears again.

As for jazz, I don't think she'd do that. She's never, not as I am aware of at least, done anything clse to it at all. And frankly I don't really mind as mika-jazz more often than not puts e to sleep. I would never ever ever want her to release anything like "NAKED SONGS" by aya.

Her style seems to mostly be heavy electronic influenced, extremely delicate classical stuff or rock, which also often is very synthisized. The kind of mellow muted disharmonic jazzy stuff doesen't seem to be her cup of tea.

Another thing I am uncertaïn of is how well her voice would fit it. But as her voice seems to devellop quite a lot, she might pull that off. As for now it has a very different quality than what I would consider suitable (allthough it might be interesting).

I think she could definetly try more RnB/pop, as long as it's done her way. Nothing heavy though.

I don't really mind her sticking to one genre as long as she keeps fresh and more importantly, has good composition, melodies. Sadly, her remix albums days seems to have gone, so we won't be able to hear different versions of most songs. THat often made it all more intersting to me.

Even though she seems to have done it all now, who knows? There are songs on this album that are somewhat different from her past stuff, like Born to Be... and JEWEL. Pop knows no boundraries. =P

Terri 1st December 2006 09:13 PM

I would love if Ayu could mix her old pop/techno appears style with a new style

zeroshin888 1st December 2006 09:47 PM

Jazz would be a wonderful option for ayu. She can totally make use of her lower registered voice and vibrato. What she's doing now is great though. Secret totally surprised me as I thought she was really losing it with her earlier releases.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 1st December 2006 11:05 PM

I think Jazz would destroy her career. I want fast dance techno.

midnightispure 2nd December 2006 03:16 AM

Oooh, I seriously would love jazz. She's never tackled it yet. Or, pure acoustic-ness either, really. I mean I guess girlish could be semi acoustic, but I'd like to see her go down that road more.

alt.total-loser 2nd December 2006 03:19 AM

If she did abunch of jazz, I'd die. I can't stand that stuff.

She should do RnB.

Or perhaps an actual dance-y, techno-y song.

yamogi 2nd December 2006 03:34 AM

Over past 8 years, ayu've been always evolving. She has tried almost every kind of music.being a fans myself, I'm really surprised.Maybe that's why she is still the one and only diva of japan.

the angel song 2nd December 2006 03:39 AM

I'd rather not think on it, and when I start giving up hope for her, let her smack me in the face with another "Secret" album!! :)

darc_aqua 2nd December 2006 03:40 AM

I think she still has a lot up her sleeve. Maybe she will do more retro songs, they're pretty cool. Her ballads are always great. I'm sure she'll do more experimental stuff. She would lose a lot of fans if she went on into jazz.

monsoonbaby 2nd December 2006 03:50 AM

We never what Ayu will do, she never fails to surprise me.
But I really miss her "LOVEappears" days.

s1012h 2nd December 2006 04:23 AM

i really love ayu's ability to just be able to sing so many different genres
and i hope that her next album will blow me away like Secret did
but i want the LOVEppears/I am... techno feel back, with songs like Naturally and too late
and the continuation of great bold rock like 1 LOVE
i hope that she won't make another (miss)understood

EDIT: I think ayu trying a few songs that hikki does nowadays would be cool haha
but I think hikki pulls off the weird etheral music better than ayu could

username 2nd December 2006 04:48 AM

yeah, she tried almost everything and I'm still not bored but it feels like there's no more inspiration left for her :?

If she attempts to try something new, she can do some country influences (not really horrible as it sounds like)example 1 2

I'll bet it'll sound nice! =D

With Ayu, for me, knowing how she uses her different styles, I feel like I'm always surprised, or at least entertained.

I never really ever liked the kind of threads, "what kind of music/song/album would you like Ayu to release next" because I really don't see music that way, most especially with Ayu. With her, I just take everything she throws at us as she does it, and if I like it, I like it, and if I don't, then I don't. Ayu hasn't disappointed me yet, and I really like all her music.

Even with all the different styles, for me, it is more her style in particular that makes me love her. Ayu does have, no matter what genre, a style all her own, with her lyrics, vocals, feelings, and even in her compositions (even as different from each other as they may sound.)

For me, the music is all about her feeling, not tempo or keys or this style or that (though of course some are better sounding than others)

With Ayu, it's like, I know what I wouldn't care for (in respects to the original kanariya ew), but, really, I support Ayu in whatever she chooses to do, and, while my expectations for her are higher than others simply because of her track record, I will take and listen to whatever she chooses to hit us with next. I don't know what she will do next, and I don't really care. I just want more of her music.

So yes, after all of that, the basic conclusion is, I don't know what next, and I don't care. Just more Ayu.
