What IF Hamasaki Ayumi's career ended after A BEST

All right I just read at wiki that the first A BEST was to mark her career and end right after the release, and that she opposed releasing it only because it seemed to early for a best to her, but what would you do if you didn't have the I Am...-Secret, and Part Of Me era???

ohsixthirty 26th February 2007 06:31 AM

we wouldn't know the difference and by now i probably would have forgotten about her, honestly.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 26th February 2007 06:31 AM

It wont end now.

truehappiness 26th February 2007 06:35 AM

If it ended after A BEST 2, then that's some screwed up logic. >|

She's still got her ASIA TOUR to do, so if it does happen, it'd be after that.

ohsixthirty 26th February 2007 06:39 AM

did you guys read the thread? he's asking what if it ended after the FIRST a best.

truehappiness 26th February 2007 06:42 AM

I did at first, but I wanted to respond to the other post in here :< lol

If it ended after the first A BEST, 90% of the people posting now wouldn't even be here...

I just felt like saying that. If it ended after the first BEST I would not even know what J-pop is. This place prolly would have shut down years ago if her career did end there too.

Ani_C 26th February 2007 06:56 AM

If it did I would have never gotten to know her o-o that'd be weird xDDD

Edit: In fact, I would probably still be listening to anime theme music or be a big D A I fan right now and be totally into Ban-Chan's stuff. (But be dissapointed about the break up still, like I kinda am even though it's like almost so 2 years ago). Who knows, I wonder what I would have been led up to.

truehappiness 26th February 2007 06:56 AM

Not exactly shut down..

Just somewhat defunct and still at invisionboard or w/e.. ;D

one of them is me, probably.

coz im only knew about her about last year.

AyUmIXx 26th February 2007 08:59 AM

i believe she won't..

Vinylfantasy 26th February 2007 09:00 AM

Then I wouldn't have to stay here anymore :laugh

ayu_ayu301 26th February 2007 10:24 AM

well if her careers ended Avex would probably lose out a lot of money since Ayu is the only J-pop artist i would buy her stuffs.

immel 26th February 2007 11:23 AM

The thing about Ayu ending her career with the release of the first A BEST is half a rumor.

It's also widely believed, a thought that is encouraged by me, that was but a sales stunt from avex's side. They made it look like she was ending her career with some stir up in media and Ayumi crying on the cover, in order to make the sales rise.

If she would have ended her career back then I would never have found out about Ayumi, since the first song I heard was evolution. And the album that got me seriously hooked was MY STORY.

truehappiness 26th February 2007 12:39 PM

I wonder just where avex would be..

Would they be where they are now? Would ToshibaEMI have taken over?

immel 26th February 2007 12:45 PM

I'm pretty sure that avex would have been quite large, but not comparable to how huge they are now.

I also think that female solo artists would definitely not have an as big part in Japans music industry as they do now.

truehappiness 26th February 2007 12:53 PM

Well, when Ayu came around in 1999, DAI, Namie, and ELT were big acts in avex..

Now, one of them barely exists, one sells like.. "okay", and the other is just sort of "there." D:

immel 26th February 2007 01:05 PM

I still think Ayumi helped to boost popularity of female artists, helping to breed the way for the acceptance of stars like Ai, Kuu and whoever.

Although there would of course have been new famous female singers regardless, I think Ayumi's long career made avex concentrate even more on looking for female artists.

AyUmIXx 26th February 2007 01:10 PM

even though she won't exist in the future as a singer anymore..
i want her to be a lyricist/arranger for new female artists...
that's great too...

I think they would've come in sooner or later..

Except Koda. Since that avex audition might not have been held..
