Okay, I would please like to know which songs Ayu covered and which songs were covered by Ayu. I never knew there were so many and I'm starting to worry...

KEY:**
Songs in orange: Ayu covered, rewrote lyrics
Songs in blue: Ayu covered, didn't change the lyrics
Songs in green: Another artist covered/used off of Ayu

I'd just like to know. Thanks so much in advance!

*This is UNOFFICIAL!
**If something is wrong, PLEASE let me know! This is also just a little note-to-self thing. :P

LOVE since 1999 is written by tsunku, it's his song, not ayu's. He even wrote the lyrics.

Sotsugyou Shashin is written by yumi matsutoya, and the maki goto cover is a cover of her song, just like ayu's is. She is technically not cvering ayu.

How is this worrying?

Chibi_Venus 1st May 2007 01:09 AM

^ So, basically, Ayu did cover the two you mentioned?

I was worried that Ayu isn't as "true" as I thought she was. I knew that she covered SWEETBOX, but when I saw this huge list I thought to myself, "Oh no! Are none of these songs 'Ayu' songs?!" You know what I mean?

JinHamasaki 1st May 2007 02:03 AM

kumo was composed by the same composer as Memorial address. It technically isn't a cover. The lyrics I believe are different.

Sotsugyou Sashin is very popular. It was played all over Japan when Yuming released Seasons Colors when I was in Japan. Besides, Ayu loves Yuming, and it was a best compilations album, not an original album. It technically is a cover.

And I'm assuming everything in black you meant as green.

evolution7931 1st May 2007 03:43 AM

they forgot "evolution" by charm..

Impracticable 1st May 2007 03:48 AM

there are a few charm songs if im correct?

ayumeg 1st May 2007 04:58 AM

^ Ayu still wrote most of these. Other artists covered her songs.

sora2522 1st May 2007 05:55 AM

what i would do is check the year that ayu released the song and the year that (insert other artist) released the song
usually, the later song is the cover of the earlier song (the original)

for the secret: i think that ayu wrote secret first, then denise ho sang it for the movie only (though trailers have shown ayu's version of it...)

I was going to do that, actually, but also wanted to ask my fellow pals here. ^^

I don't think LOVE was a cover, it's written by tsunku, but it's a duet and had not been released before. It's like the case of "a song is born". even thoug it may appear on globe albums and in a different version on I am... it's technically not a cover. So while tsunku's version is a cover, I don't know if I'd consider it a cover of an ayu song. It's more tsunku reperforming his own song.

I understand now. Thank you so much!

JinHamasaki, thank you very much!

Now it's just M I'm starting to worry about... :P I want to assume that dream copied Ayu, though. There's no way Ayu's greatest song wasn't an original! :P

ImpactBreaker 2nd May 2007 12:52 AM

dream didn't copy anything. dream made a tribute album for avex artists and covered several of them, including globe and ayu for example. To cover doesn't equal to copy.
And as far as I know both fairyland and Depend on you are ayu's originals.
also if Pride and rainy day are technically not a cover, youy should also add B&D, Ladies Night and Beautiful day.

There's also songs that ayu sings that have sampled compositions:

i.e:
-"walking proud" from some Kinki Kids songs called "Angel" if I'm not mistaken

-"Free & Easy" sampled from "No Amen" a movie soundtrack for that insane Joan of Arc movie.

-"Pride" sampled from the obnoxious "crucified" song.

-"SEASONS" sampled from Roxette's "Listen To Your Heart" (nah, this is just a joke of mine :laugh...still it does sound oh so inspired LOL) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3sJPUTTfNbg

-"GAME" sampled the SE from Space Invaders (???) j/k again :laugh

The list seems to be complete! :D Thank you all SO much!! :yatta

ImpactBreaker 14th May 2007 03:54 AM

You should put Sotsugyou Shashin and Teens in blue :yes They're probably the only studio covers she's made if I'm not mistaken.
You should also put in the description for blue this instead: ayu covered the song, no lyrics changed.

Ballerina_xXX 14th May 2007 02:39 PM

The list looks good, however I have a feeling some songs that other artists covered off Ayu may be missing. I think I saw a list here before that was MUCH longer! Hmmm....

Chibi_Venus 16th May 2007 08:29 PM

^ I'd bet anything that you're right. There probably is a longer list. These are just the song titles I saw on AHN. :) Thank you for saying so! :D

The list seems to be more organized thanks to you. :yes Thank you! ;)

Diana 16th May 2007 10:45 PM

Hm... I didn`t thought Ayu covered Sotsugyou Shashin and teens. Thanx for that information :D I can`t read all now, have to sleep >_>

About You: Xing Guang by S.H.E

Xing Guang is an "original" song composed by Zuo An An although in fact it sounds very similar to ayu's About You.

Ayumiko 18th May 2007 10:06 PM

Even though Xing Guang by S.H.E's composer is credited to someone else but I still think it is a cover song of about you. It just sounds too similar and all they did was made it slower and changed a bit of the song.
