J-Pop artists you used to love but now lost interest in

I saw this thread (by Klonoa) on JPM and thought it was a great idea:)

So, the title says it all: J-Pop artists you used to love, but now lost interest in.

For me:
Crystal Kay: she had really good songs, but now, they all sound identical to me.

Every Little Thing: this group also has great songs, but just like Crystal Kay, the songs all sound identical to me

mink: too many ballads/slow songs in the end. The only songs I still listen to are Eternal Love, Glory of Life, Omajinai, One Suitcase and Like There Is No Tomorrow.

I still listen (once every 4-5 months?) to Maaya Sakamoto, Nami Tamaki and Anna Tsuchiya.

Blasphemy! :shakehead

well... for me... I lost interest in all artists even ayu... but later I start to listen their stuff... I had lost insterest recently on namie.. but hide & Seek brought me back!.

One artist that I Lost all interest is mika Nakashima.. I don't fancy her anymore, I've erased some of her music and I plan selling the stuff I have of her xD, I realize that I can't stand her voice u_u

that's is!

... ayumi hamasaki ._. sorry >_<

I don't know... I prefered the "old" Ayu... I don't like her music like before, specially since the releases of "Bold & Delicious", "Startin'" and "BLUE BIRD". I liked the old sad ayu the most, the sad songs she does now are different...

Rurutia 10th June 2007 04:16 AM

i like ayumi's new stuff......

Beauty4123 10th June 2007 04:19 AM

umm..utada hikaru, for me, definately. i dunno, i just discovered more new artists so i took a break from utada, and just kinda lost interest. now i got some of it back, but it's not like it was when i first discovered jpop.

^AWW the pictures in your sig and avatar where did they come from?

ImpactBreaker 10th June 2007 06:20 AM

Wow, awesome thread! Finally something I can rant and vent about !!!! :D:D

Ayaka Hirahara - she used to sing great songs at the beginning of her career...but now, everything sounds bland and uninteresting

mink - the same as ayaka Hirahara, her latest releases have gotten bland. Time to look for an ORL too, because her voice is getting hoarser and hoarser at each new release.

BoA - the girl miserably failed to reivent herself, and with Britney Spears out of spot- since boA is merely a shadow of her- she has lost entirely her inspirational touch.

Every Little thing - I'm still shocked at what happened to the band after they released the fantastic Many Pieces...they still managed to release the awesome SORAAI, but after that, the band completely vanished into oblivion with songs that barely strike any interest at all

Hitomi Shimatani - unfortunately, it's time for you to use your great vocal abilities to sing something different other than Lambada or Tales of Eternia-like songs.:rolleyes

Hitomi yaida - Freaking god, whatever happened to this girl? She used to release some of the CATCHIEST J-Pop/Rock songs ever....but after Air.Cook.Sky, none, and I mean, none of her songs really have any replay value. Talk about bad luck :shrug

Mika Nakashima - Where's the Mika who used to release absolutely lush songs like the ones for LOVE? She lost her identity trying to engage in her pseudo-rock career.

Mai Kuraki - She completely suicided her suscesful career after she released her best album (with the sole exception of the cool P.S MY SUNSHINE). I miss her ultra catchy tunes like the amazing Stand Up.

Rina Aiuchi - Ok, her old career was made of anime-like JPOP songs. Who cares, they were really, really cool. Then, like Mika, she had this schizophrenic idea that rock is best and decided to go with the trend and lost herself in the oblivion.

shiina ringo - should never have joined Tokyo Jihen at all...oh well, at least they do have one, and I mean only one song that is indeed worth listening. It's called Shuraba, but only the single version. They were smart enough to destroy their only good song in the Adult album, Yay!!!!:sarclap:clapclap

Overall, 2007 has been an extremely uninteresting year for JPOP...the only fantastic song I can remember so far is namie's Baby Don't Cry.

Agree!

Keishi 10th June 2007 08:00 AM

mink she has reached the point where all of her sounds sounds the same to me. >_<

Ayumi Hamasaki idk. Probably just because she doesn't get hyped like how it was anymore. I already forgot what glitter/fated sounds like.

hitomi Probably because there's no releases coming anymore from her.

SOULHEAD Hmm...I stopped digging about them after the Christmas single. Just...iunno, they keep sounding more & more generic.

Rurutia 10th June 2007 08:01 AM

1)hitomi shimatani's music is bland to me now......she needs more distinct songs liek mermaid...songs that stick out but are beautiful and memorable at the same time
2) Utada Hikaru - her music isn't bad per say now....but it's nothing compared to her deep river era....so far as recent releases go, i've only liked keep try'in

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 10th June 2007 08:14 AM

Naka Naka Shima.

just bland of late.

Oh, and Namie Amuro for a while, everything after QoHP was incredibly sub par except Violet Sauce but then I heard the amazing Hide & Seek, Top Secret... and Hello which also sounds amazing from what little was heard. So YAY! back near the top of my hit list.

alt.total-loser 10th June 2007 08:36 AM

Crystal Kay and Utada Hikaru.

Other people's reasons are the same as mine. =/

Aga-chan 10th June 2007 10:19 AM

J-Rock - I lost interest in most J-Rock stuff. Still kinda like a few songs and VERY FEW artists, but I've completely overcome the time when I was hyper over J-Rock. To an extent when I sort of don't like it.
(The question was about J-Pop, so I hope this is OK.)

Shiina Ringo - I haven't listened to the Tokyo Jihen albums and her new solo one, but from what I've heard they don't seem too interesting. And I strangely don't even feel much like listening to the old songs I like...

Kodayumi 10th June 2007 12:14 PM

mink and probably crystal Kay.

same!!
Namie Amuro - Funky Town aint all that funky :P HIde and Seek sounds annoying and Hello just looks... boring. I got introduced to her with a great single (white light) and all my expectations of her were "ohh, her next single is gonna be as good as WL/VS".

misono no comment :P hehe, everything after kojin jugyo was crap crap crap crap and neverworld was just crap aswell =D, the +DVD version didnt even come with all the PV's!.

Heartsdales mainly because of their slipt and they said they were gonna move to solo projects right?, its been like forever! :P

LISA her good songs are her single tracks, if i listen to her albums, ill only like 5 songs and feel like screaming when i listen to the fillers. LISABEST is gonna be great though :P (wonder why? THEY ARE ALL SINGLE TRACKS =D)

BoA her songs all sound the same and sound like britney spears knock off's, made in 20 anyone?

Mai someone call a search party! shes gone missing from the music industry :P. I hope she hasnt stopped her music career, even thopugh her album was so/so, id love to hear more from her. Her style is amazing and unique.

Raleigh 10th June 2007 12:57 PM

BoA: Used to love her songs but now they've turned mellow and recycled. Hope her next Korean album will revive some attention.

Ami Suzuki: I used to really love this girl but I couldn't even listen to her new album. All her midtempo songs are beyond mediocre.

misono: Wow talk about a downward slope. Since VS her musical quality has crashed down.

Nami Tamaki: This girl had a brilliant career before she started releasing recycled material and snooze-worthy stuff.
