Startin' for (miss)understood???

I have a question regarding the Startin' pv.
First of all, Startin' was supposed to be in (m)u along with Rainy Day, but it was left out, right? But... the pv itself seems to have been made during that era because Ayu's hair looks like it had been in that era. Plus, the picture from the interpretation of the song in the beggining is clearly an (m)u pic, right?

Whether Startin' was originally supposed to be on (m)u isn't very clear. But I believe reading in an interview that it was recorded in NYC along with B&D / Pride. Maybe she decided last minute to release it as her first single of 2006, or it was never originally planned to be put on (m)u.

The PV was most likely shot around the time of (m)u as well.

i always thought that it was...
i mean, after seeing the lives (which were around the time of AT06) i had
that thought.

Well Startin'/Born To Be... single was released right before the 2006 TOUR so most likely she sang it there ^_^.
I don't think it was meant to be on (m)u even if she records something at a certain time it can be used later or can be not used at all at the end.
for example let's take kumi's 12 singles project, the recordings/work started when she did the Butterfly single so she worked on two things separetly, the singles of ~ft~ and the album itself and some of the 12 project singles.

So ayu recorded Startin'/Born To Be... while working on the B&D/Pride single and (m)u album and maybe evne songs that were used on Secret like until that Day... (which that one she said needed to be on (m)u but it fitted Secret's concept.

rainy day was the ending theme for that game right? Was Startin' the opening/main theme?

^ Shin Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams.

Startin' (beginning) and rainy day (ending) are both used.

^Thanks. Maybe they thought the opening theme was too important of a tie-in to be on an album, so they put it on a single with Born To Be...?

Wasn't "It Was" supposed to be on (miss)understood?

I can;t remember, but I remember reading somewhere that when she did the GEO/Sweetbox songs she took that off. I think it was only a demo at the time though ...

fanmail 4th July 2007 05:15 PM

I thought "It was" was supoosed to be on "(miss)understood", but Ayu felt it didn't fit the album? Where did you read about "Startin'"?

ComatoseBunnySnatcher 4th July 2007 06:22 PM

Hm... i think around the time (m)u was released. I was new to Ayu then and read the wikipedia article. it said that rainy day had been decided to bew in the album, but that startin didnt cut it.

evolusean 4th July 2007 06:33 PM

The first single from one album often greater reflects the style of the previous album. It's always been that way. However, I think "Startin' " was incorporated well into "Secret".

ComatoseBunnySnatcher 4th July 2007 06:36 PM

It was...(pun NOT intended) but then again, (m)u had a variety of styles, so it cant really be defined.

you shouldn't believe everything you read on Wikipedia, especially when it comes to releases/tracklists etc... unless they are officially confirmed :innocent

very true..
they lie about release dates and get me excited too.. :'(

freedreamer 5th July 2007 04:54 PM

i think It Was should have replaced IN The Corner...not that the latter was a bad song but i guess the style fits in well with m-u...(then people would complain both being similar in arrangement..)

ComatoseBunnySnatcher 5th July 2007 09:00 PM

I love In the Corner. i thought it went better with (m)u

what i can say is ayu's hairstyle need not change for every album.. ? right?
