What Do You Think Is The Greatest Song Ever?

I think "Broken Wings" By Flyleaf is the greatest song ever. It starts out very acoustic, and builds up momentum and gives you a very empowering feeling. The lyrics are also so beautiful.

Quote:

Thank you for being such a friend to me
Oh I pray a friend for life,
And have I ever told you how much you mean to me?
Oh you mean so much to me...
Thinking all the time how to tell you what I feel,
Contemplating phrases....I'm gazing at eternity,
I am floating in serenity...

And I am so lost for words
And I am so overwhelmed

Please don't leave just yet
Can you stay a moment please
We can dance together
We can dance forever

Under your stars tonight
We'll live and breathe this dream

So close your eyes, but don't dream too deep
And please pass me some memories
And when I fall you're underneath
1000 broken hearts, carried by 1000 broken wings

"Be My Last" by Utada Hikaru has to be the best song ever, to me. I relate to it so well, and it's absolutely perfect in it's composition, lyrics, and arrangement. I've played it 155 times on itunes, with the 2nd place song being played 80 times. See the difference? :P

one of the most difficult questions in the universe.
well, for people like me anyway.
i can't choose a specific song, but almost every song by Ayumi Hamasaki is definatly up there.
:yes

i would like to say Closer by Nine Inch Nails, the lyrics are just creative and the music is just creepy and wierd but very original.

Impracticable 31st July 2007 06:20 AM

either

Memorial address by Ayu (ive palyed it about 500 times in everything ever)
Kingyo Hanabi by Ai Otsuka (also about 500 times or so ...)
or
Beautiful World by Utada (i have played that about 100 times since 3 days ago)

This is so hard to answer...I have a handful of favorite songs but if I really had to pick just one, I'd go with Gackt's "Last Song". That song just really speaks to me; lyrics, composition, the way he acts when he's performing it. Really outstanding and poignant.

Oooh good choices!! Memorial Address is one of my favorite Ayu songs too and Kingyo Hanabi is my favorite Ai song. The piano work in both are great and the lyrics, profound! Beautiful World is my favorite song at the moment; it's breathtaking.

NEVER END by Amuro Namie is really up there with my favorites. It's such a beautiful song, and so emotional. I also think Kremlin Dusk by Utada Hikaru is a masterpiece in terms of composition. It's just so complex and eerie, while also being catchy and incredibly unique. Honnou by Shiina Ringo would be another, as every time I have a break from listening to it and listen again after awhile, I fall in love with it once again.

NEVER END would be better if it wasnt so dragged out, in my opinion. i LOVE that song but i would like it a lot more if it was maybe a minute shorter. (it is what, 7 minutes?)

Pride (In the Name of Love) - U2

not my favorite song, but it's the greatest.

A few songs by MALICE MIZER coems to mind, but the best is Le Ciel. The lyrics are simply poetic, and extremely emotional. By far the best MALICE MIZER release ever.

6:26 to be exact. I didn't think it was too long though. Sure, that is really long for a song compared to a typical song, but it's just so infectious that I don't tire of it after the 6 and a half minutes :D

Butterfly is a gorgeous inspirational song. I forgot that so many Mariah songs are so amazing. I might have to add Hero to my list of greatest.

well...today i kinda realized Judith by A Perfect Circle is probably the best song ever...I'll type down the lyrics...

You're such an inspiration for the ways
That I'll never ever choose to be
Oh so many ways for me to show you
How the savior has abandoned you
***** your God
Your Lord and your Christ
He did this
Took all you had and
Left you this way
Still you pray, you never stray
Never taste of the fruit
You never thought to question why

It's not like you killed someone
It's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side
Praise the one who left you
Broken down and paralyzed
He did it all for you
He did it all for you

Oh so many many ways for me to show you
How your dogma has abandoned you
Pray to your Christ, to your god
Never taste of the fruit
Never stray, never break
Never---choke on a lie
Even though he's the one who did this to you
You never thought to question why

Not like you killed someone
It's Not like you drove a spiteful spear into his side
Talk to Jesus Christ
As if he knows the reasons why
He did it all for you
Did it all for you
He did it all for you

I can't tell you how incredible and true those lyrics are. There isn't enough music that confronts religion that boldly.
