[American Shoppers] Has Yesasia increased their prices?

Has anyone noticed this? I didn't realize the dollar was losing value that much :(

zoomzoom 23rd April 2008 10:58 PM

Hmm the dollar stinks currently.

v3lun420 23rd April 2008 11:00 PM

Hm.... dollar is in its lowest points nowadays. Hope this will be over soon.

Catzi 23rd April 2008 11:24 PM

The dollar was lowered so that in the future the dollar will be strong again. It sounds like an oxymoron, but it makes sense. I don't want to too much into politics/economy....

fanmail 23rd April 2008 11:42 PM

It's hard to explain, but all the currency values increase/decrease. It happens with the £ too. Like, I might put some things together that'll come to £50, and the next day it'll be £52. Is that what you mean? But in $ =/

KuroixShiroi_Namida 23rd April 2008 11:54 PM

I think AUD is kinda increasing lol.

orangeland 24th April 2008 12:11 AM

lol well i understand that currencies increase and decrease in value... i'm not that lost guys haha. but yeah, am i not crazy for thinking that a typical ayu album (cd only) was around like $27 last week and now it's like $30 ish on yesasia?

qwerty 24th April 2008 01:19 AM

Does anyone else besides me think that it's crazy how the edition of MW that comes with the DVD and poster costs almost $30? The dollar is really weak right now. :(

GRACE 24th April 2008 01:24 AM

I noticed it, I payed 20 something bucks for Nami's new album when I pre-ordered it not even two weeks ago, now it's 30 bucks.

che0173 24th April 2008 12:24 PM

ummm
i thought USD went back up again!?
coz ummm, wen i was buying off Crescent shop, it went from 95.xxyen per 1USD up to 96.96yen per 1USD =D
and wen paying via paypal it went from 1aud = 0.89xxxxxxUSD to 1aud = 0.92xxxxxxxUSD
that is quite a jump in 1 weeks time =S

devilayu 24th April 2008 01:11 PM

I noticed prices went up but I thought it was due to supply & demand (I was looking at limited edition stuff). The US dollar is doing better against the yen than it was like a month ago, so I dunno what could be the direct cause.

vuong22 24th April 2008 01:33 PM

I know the tax went up on store albums

che0173 24th April 2008 01:36 PM

tax went up!?
and wat do you mean "store albums"?

Deneb 24th April 2008 02:26 PM

dunno if whether us is dropping or aud rising, but AUD IS CATCHING UP TO USD w00t

don't they charge hkd. and hkd is always 7 to 1 usd ~_~

I highly doubt that.

The Canadian dollar is slightly higher than the American dollar, and it's sold for 17-20$ or so. If a website sells Ayu singles for 30$ you don't want to buy from them, that's just over-priced.

The posters are first press editions too, and called 'special bonus' which means you don't pay for them. People who bought MW first press and got the poster paid the same amount than others who bought MW CD+DVD not first press and didn't get the poster.

qwerty 25th April 2008 01:14 AM

^Maybe YesAsia is just ripping people off, then. :shrug It costs $30 for the MW CD+DVD with the poster on YesAsia, I think. :(

M_aria 26th April 2008 07:52 AM

I don't think it's all got to do with the decline in value of the dollar. I mean, they are a business, maybe they figured they could risk raising prices a bit and not lose customers and make more profit. Maybe they had to raise prices, for some cost related reason (maybe to cover costs due to their free shipping offer LOL). There are a lot of reasons why they might raise prices.

Honestly, I've never noticed if they were getting more expensive. Not that I'm so well off that things like that don't matter, but it never caught my attention.

criminal 26th April 2008 12:11 PM

I know, it sucks. I was all, like, "WOW, aiko's new album is $27.99! Good to know!" and then a few days later, "UGH, $30.99? Puh-lease!"

che0173 27th April 2008 01:25 PM

LOLS yeaaaa, i think Yesasia is just increasing their prices because lots they have lots of customers and by increasing their items by a few dollars, they can make thousands more in just one day...coz their frequent customers wont stop just because of a few bucks...

fanmail 28th April 2008 11:16 AM

^ that's really not what it is. I don't have the time to explain it now, but that's not it.
