Hello all!

I've only recently become a major Ayu fan (I know, SIN!!) and I was just wondering if it's worth my time and money to buy her earlier works, keeping in mind I'm only young > <!

If so, what are some of her better albums? I'm loving her recent album!

Also I'm new to AHS so.. yeah, any help would be much appreciated! ^ ^

Ugh.. I suppose this thread may only apply to a few users BUT does anyone living in Sydney know a good shop which sells J-Pop CD's? I often go to Shinseido in Chatswood and various other shops in Chinatown. Please tell me if you know a good shop, I MUST BROADEN MY AYU COLLECTION! :tired

Thanks!

You can't go past RAINBOW and MY STORY, they are both fantastic albums and Ayu shows of a great range of musical styles

I also recommend I am... and SECRET as well as the Ayu Trance/Ayu-mi-x albums as titles to get as you go on.

As far as PVs (music videos) go, RAINBOW (the song not the album) and Endless Sorrow are two of her best to date. You can see them on Youtube or probably get them here.

If you wanted to try out her earlier music there's a lot of her songs available for download here so you can try before you buy :) I'm sure eventually you'll want all of her discography anyway, but I believe they are two good albums to begin with and are reasonably priced these days.

And welcome! Whereabouts in Oz are you? Great to see another one here!

ayuzlove 27th April 2008 06:25 AM

firstly...welcome to AHS! every album of ayu has some sort of unique tastes and feelings to it, so u shld try if u have the chance...hehe

A Song for XX - her voice is higher in this album with songs which are mainly ballads

LOVEppears - kind of like a dance album with some really good ballads

Duty - A dark album which really attracts with some dark, powerful songs

I am... - the entire album is composed by her! u shld really try it!

Rainbow - gives a dreamy kind of feeling which is different compared to other albums

Memorial Address - a mini-album which i highly recommend

MY STORY, (miss)understood, Secret, GUILTY - overall well-done albums u definitely shldn't miss

her BEST albums are perfect in my opinion but i din buy any of her remix albums, so i cant give any comments :P

i really love all of her albums~if you want to see your taste in her music, i recommend buying A BEST~BLACK~ or A BEST ~WHITE~, they contain ayu's amazing songs! I personally love (miss)understood, Memorial address, MY STORY,Secret,GUILTY, you can just download the albums first and see which you like, then buy it~

Memorial address-have soft ballads, rockish, and happy songs ^^
(miss)understood-really great and some are covers of Sweetbox songs
Secret-great ballads and rock songs with a great beat
GUILTY-contain more darker style of songs, paired with summer style song(glitter) and heart-moving ballads

omably 27th April 2008 06:44 AM

Wow~ Thank you all for the info I'll check them out! Also I've been reading about her '8cm' CD's just wondering what they were and if I should try getting them? Sorry If it's a dopey question... :headache

And kendelle I live in Sydney, I read you live in South Australia? That's awesome! I'm so glad there are other Ayu fans in Australia, we should make an organisation :D Just wondering... How is the availability of J-Pop in South Australia? There are a few shops i know in Sydney but they're all overseas version... bleh I MUST HAVE THE JAPANESE VERSION~ (I'm so obsessive compulsive :P)

w00t, another australian haha!!! welcome and SPAM!!! jk don't, u'll get bash lol

anyway, imo i think older albums are better :D

w00t <3 song for xx xDD

you can always try download them and have a listen at the old albums first before you decide whether to buy it or not. ;) or buy from ebay to save money haha, they are nearly free!!!

8cm 8cm <33 they are the first 8 singles ayu released. 8 of the rarer products in the whole discography :P you can't buy them new anymore :grumpy either ebay them or off ppl :@ they are smaller than normal cds

omably 27th April 2008 07:54 AM

Ahh! Thanks for the info! Hmm, should I bother getting her remix albums?

AyuHamasaki01 27th April 2008 08:29 AM

If I may also give my opinion :roflmao?
Anyway, IMO, you should really check these albums out:

MY STORY
(miss)understood
Secret
GUILTY

Of course these are her most recent albums.
But uhm, you could also download A BEST (first best album), A BEST II -BLACK- (second best album with the "dark/sad" tracks) and A BEST II -WHITE- (second best album with all the "genki" songs)

i wouldn't get it. unless you want to collect the entire ( COMPLETE ) collection or you have money to spare or you know, just too much money lol even if i was to get it, it would be my lowest priority compare to other goods in the discography. cos honestly, ayu-mi-x isn't that good :innocent. trance and ayuromix is good though.

i sound geeky don't i :no :innocent

Hah, you don't sound geeky at all! Hmm I think I posted a similar question above... BUT how is J-Pop availability in Melbourne? I lived there for like 6 years but of course at that time I wasn't really into Ayu or J-Pop in general, too young for music I guess :D

KarenPang 27th April 2008 09:07 AM

I listen to all except her 1st 2 albums cos I think it wouldn't work for me & besides they're quite old

at the end of the day it depends on whether you have the time & energy to keep up & catch up with her older works

prussian blue 27th April 2008 09:12 AM

DL the best album like a best and a best 2 is the best way to start off!

that's what I always do when I listen to new artistes , sure fire strategy's to listen to their Best albums depending on whether have they put out 1 or not

KuroixShiroi_Namida 27th April 2008 09:26 AM

Hi! I'm from Sydney too XD!

SA's pretty bad :p I've only ever seen 3-4 CDs of Ayu's in anywhere in the city! This includes our local 'anime store' which only stocks "MIYA Records" versions :no

There a huge selection of Chinese/C-Pop music though, thanks to Chinatown :)

I get all my CDs off of ebay or online shopping sites, it's easier and cheaper then getting Sanity or Virgin music to import for me! :innocent

KarenPang 27th April 2008 09:41 AM

try HMV HK , their shipping prices are reasonable

Well in China Town occasionally Japanese Version CD's are stocked in but it's pretty rare lol since they already sell the overseas version at the price of japanese versions.

Btw which suburb are you from?

Deneb 27th April 2008 10:27 AM

then again, cds sold in china town are overpriced :faint in melbourne at least
