Forum funding

This is kinda random, but being curious...

This forum has it's own domain and it holds contests which gives CDs from Yesasia as prizes. This costs money, and obviously we're free members, so where do the funds come from?

The forum only gets a small percent if someone uses the Yesasia links, right? Is that enough?

zoomzoom 8th May 2008 04:59 AM

I think the mods pay out of their pockets.. like the domain bills.. right?

Deneb 8th May 2008 06:36 AM

I think ahs gets 10% of your purchase in yesasia :D probably from mod / host's pocket :weep my friend got a domain, $100aud per year i think xD

DA1SUK1DAY01691 8th May 2008 09:10 AM

I think this is a very legitimate question. I have never thought about it until you brought this topic up. Which makes me curious too. :)

If a senior member can enlighten us, that'd be nice. Ahaha. :D

KuroixShiroi_Namida 8th May 2008 01:14 PM

Nice question! I'm pretty sure the staff uses their own money unless they have enough affiliate $ from YesAsia or something. Maybe they should also have a donating option too since i won't mind donating :mini

Catzi 8th May 2008 03:52 PM

10% from Yesasia isn't a lot, and it seems a lot of people like to use CDJapan or HMV on this forum. The mods paying is a valid theory... I guess. :conhuh

Corybobory 8th May 2008 05:40 PM

I think it's up to the people who spend the money to say if they spend and how much (I don't contribute personally), but yes, this forum is supported by out of pocket dollars.

You guys could sell yourselves off to the members. We could even come up with owner's guides and maintenance manuals:

Spoiler:
Corybobory: The Owner's Guide and Maintenance Manual

CONGRATULATIONS!

You are now the proud owner of your very own CORYBOBORY! Read the manual to find out how to use your fearless mod to her full potential.

INSTALLATION

When you receive your CORYBOBORY model, don't be alarmed if your CORYBOBORY model is singing some strange foreign song. Certain steps must be taken before you open the crate or you will forever be listening to 'kono natsu bokutachi wa...'

(1) Go to your local Mitsuwa or Bookoff

(2) Buy a CD by the name of Ayumi Hamasaki. Watch out for Koda Kumi fans. Should they see you buying her CD you may be running shortly.

(3) When you return home, toss the CD into the crate from a distance.

(4) Wait for the singing to disappear and be replaced with gargling noises of joy

(5) You are safe to open the crate

OPERATING PROCEDURE

Your CORYBOBORY model is accomplished in many aspects.

Leader

It is true that your CORYBOBORY is a born leader. She can wrangle the local street gang and turn them into crying infants.

Mediator

Though you should sometimes take matters into your own hands, your CORYBOBORY model can settle any argument. And throw in an insult about your mother for good measure.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

Problem: She refuses to eat the Hamburger Helper that I made her, and throws her bowl at me screaming, "KRAFTTTT!"

Solution: Do not be alarmed; your CORYBOBORY model simply wants Kraft dinner delights. As this is her favorite meal, take care to keep stock of a wide variety of Kraft dinners. Should you run out of Kraft dinners, it is recommended that you go to the grocery store as soon as possible before the chaos breaks loose.

FINAL NOTE

Your CORYBOBORY is under guarantee until August 2, 2008. After that, the Dean will stop by and pick her up in his private jet and fly off into the Scottish sunlight.

Wait, so if you don't chip in, and Cory doesn't chip in...who of the mods does? O_o

Good question. Does Zef contribute anything? I mean, he kinda vanished.

Piccolo 10th May 2008 05:17 PM

Good question, but these matters are typically kept private, so I'm fairly certain you won't get a direct answer.
