monochrome single version Question

Hi there!:shihi

This has bothering me for a while now but everyone I listen to the single version of monochrome (yes, the one on "A"):

At the end monochrome kind of, gets cut off and in LOVEppears version that is the end of the song but in the single version of monochrome when the song ends you hears a guy say something like "You were great" and you hear sounds (probably someone getting of a chair and a door being closed)

What is this? And why is in monochrome?
I hope someone can clear it up.

THANKS in advance.

The end is:
"Yeah right"-The guy's voice
And you hear a cd falling on the floor.

Maybe, the reason is in the lyrics...because when she sings that part(What I want to be?).

this bothers me soo much too... I love the song..
But then hatttte the end.. so I can never listen to the song..
Cause it either get cut off..
Or like... the weird guy.

AyuHamasaki01 17th July 2008 08:51 PM

I think it's really weird.
The weird cut off and then the guy.

I think someone explained it... it's because of the end line of the lyrics

la la la la la la...
Because I'm so strong.

In this moment the song cuts reflecting that she is not so strong... or something like this, I can't rememeber xD

Yeah it's bother me.
It would be better if they didnt cut the song and changing into man speaking and the sound of door being closed =.="

aqua_crystal 18th July 2008 11:05 AM

I think it has something to do with the lyrics. The weirdo guy in the end maybe believed that Ayu would not hold on because she is not strong or something. But I seriously don't get why they had to cut off the song. Maybe they couldn't think of a better ending....

^ I'd like to ask Hikki the same thing about "Teiku 5."

cosmeticmusic 18th July 2008 06:07 PM

Teiku 5 was cut off like that as a way of symbolizing how quick death can just happen. The song IS about death. Boku wa Kuma was placed after it because A) A clever way of symbolizing "rebirth" or B) It was meant to showcase the extreme contrast between the two songs.

I've never heard the Monochrome single version. I want to listen to it now...

1) I remember Hikki saying there was a reason for Teiku 5's ending so quickly, but I could never find an answer for what that reason was. Thank you!

2) Four years or so back, I found the single version - and was convinced for the longest time that I'd received a "fake" or "tampered with" copy of the song. x_x It didn't occur to me to actually go looking around to see if that was how the song was MEANT to be. The song itself isn't different from the album version, IIRC, it's just the ending bit that's different.

I actually love the sudden ending of monochrome and how well it fits the lyrics.
Let alone this is one of the most amazing songs ayu has done.
It also flows really well into the interlude.

Yeah, those are the explanations that makes the most sense to me. It's like the song suddenly shuts and the man goes like ok enough with these lies.

Artistic expression? Symbolism? Good old fashioned thinking outside the box?

Bad Wolf 19th July 2008 09:56 PM

^ :yes to all of the above, really. The ending always reminded me of a "slap to the face" kind of realization and how that knowledge hits you like, well... a slap to the face. Strange that they would use a male (speaking in English no less) to convey that.

thinkingoutloud89 19th July 2008 10:58 PM

I don´t hear a CD falling or a guy talkin...just electro msuic which fades away o-O

Calico 19th July 2008 11:04 PM

^That's the album version. The one they're talking about here is the single version from A.
