About RAINBOW's cover

So I was wondering, for the RAINBOW covers, is ayu painted blue, or they took a normal picture, then maybe photoshopped? it blue?

Maemi 31st July 2008 08:09 PM

Hmm...i really don't know but i don't think she was painted blue. it's a nice cover btw =)

amorphose 31st July 2008 08:15 PM

It's most-likely photo shopped. haha

truehappiness 31st July 2008 08:25 PM

I recall that Leslie Kee took the photo for the cover, and Ayu was like, naked. So it was definitely photoshopped to be crystallized blue and such.. however, I wonder if the "real" shots are inside Leslie Kee's storage or something... hm.

"real shots"? interesting

~ayu-cake~ 1st August 2008 08:36 AM

I would LOVE to see the making of the RAINBOW cover, it's always one that's intrigued me.

Hanabi_surreal 1st August 2008 08:48 AM

Are from Leslie Kee? cool!!!

I think Ayu is painted... and then photoshop... dunno... is for her lips are looks like without color

You could easily just remove all the color via grayscale from the original photo and then color her whatever you want...but whoever did design the RAINBOW cover probably used a different approach to it.

It is definitely Photoshopped all over, she wasn't painted for the shot.

Interesting thought about the original pictures being tucked away somewhere... let's dig!*grins*

Leslie Kee probably had HUGE HDs full of his old photoshoots.. [which is like.. a lot.]

I mean, the thousands of Ayu photos he probably has are probably worth a TON.

^ I'd like to see an unreleased RAINBOW cover like the ones we have coming of the singles ...

that'd be cool

prussian blue 3rd August 2008 12:38 AM

ayu is really naked there?

Yeah, but I'm pretty sure they all, every single one, legally belong to Avex.

Yes.

truehappiness 3rd August 2008 12:56 AM

Legally belonging to avex? I dunno.. when avex hires a photographer, is all material that results from that photoshoot(s) = avex's property?

I mean, ND CHOW can post the high quality versions of his photoshoots on his site, as can Leslie Kee.. so.. I don't know. [He also has a photo taken with Ayu and a bunch of test shots of Startin' on his site.]

immel 3rd August 2008 01:14 AM

Well, if AVEX pays Leslie for a photo shoot they most likely buy the full rights to the pictures (hence we don't see him selling them to anyone else). He most likely retains the right to some pictures and he most likely owns some kind of rights to the ones he has used in his exhibitions or on his page.

I shouldn't say too much, I don't really know how the standard deal between a photographer/artist and the buyer looks like.

Delirium-Zer0 3rd August 2008 07:23 AM

Artists & Photographers usually retain limited portfolio rights at least. Rice-Momoya posts all their Ayu CD covers on their website too, for example, but they couldn't sell those designs to anyone else but avex.

^ I just checked out their website. OMG. They did all of the iconic covers. :O PLUS, they actually made the iconic icon that is A. I'm so glad you mentioned that company, thanks a lot.
