humming 7/4

i was wondering how you're suppose to say it. would you say it like humming (7 over 4) or humming (seven four)?

ayumi.hamasaki.gulity.08 29th August 2008 03:53 PM

humming 7 over 4

Lee_410 29th August 2008 03:56 PM

I always said "Humming seventy-four".But I guess thet's the wrong way to say it.

waterballoon 29th August 2008 04:11 PM

I pronounce it as Humming seven-four. I take 7/4 like time signature (e.g. 3/4 4/4 12/8 etc), and they're pronounced as their respective individual numbers.

jiarongisme 29th August 2008 04:12 PM

I say it as Humming seven-quaters because the actual way of writing it is Humming7-over-4 like in a fraction.

waterballoon 29th August 2008 04:17 PM

^ Really? I thought she named it as Humming 7/4 cos the time signature for that song is 7/4. I mean, I don't have so called "proof" for this, but that's the most logical way that I see it.

mimika 29th August 2008 04:17 PM

I always call it humming seven four as well

I actually think 7/4 refers to musical note - 7 1/4 note...'cuz the title is "humming" 7/4...maybe she's saying humming a song of 7/4

Aga-chan 29th August 2008 04:32 PM

7/4 is actually said in Japanese. So it's "Humming yon-bun-nana", if you'd like to say it the "official" way. ^^

U-GO-BOY 29th August 2008 05:00 PM

i say it Humming "seven quarter"

That's what I think and how I say it too.

mikecavs11 29th August 2008 05:48 PM

i, myself say it as humming seven four cuz it's quicker

AyuHamasaki01 29th August 2008 06:12 PM

I just say "Humming seven four"

Vision.D 29th August 2008 07:12 PM

Humming Seven-Four. I agree with the previous poster about the whole time signature thing, it's something I'm used to.

YuriChan 29th August 2008 08:11 PM

It's called "Humming SEVEN FOUR" because it's IN 7/4 time and that's how Ayu says it! :laugh

leo_nardez 29th August 2008 08:54 PM

i usually called it HUMMING...and that's it..coz its way faster~ahaha

Satsuki 29th August 2008 09:05 PM

Wooow. ^o) I didn't even think of other ways to say it. << But you know.... all this time, I've been saying "Humming Four Seven" because apparently I can't read and even though I knew that the seven was above the four, I always seemed to read it... from bottom to top...

And probably because of the influence of "7 4 7"...

truehappiness 29th August 2008 09:13 PM

I usually refer to it as "Humming" but when I say the entire title, I just say seven by four. I think it's the literal translation of when Ayu says it during concerts.. [yon-bun-nana or w/e]

MissElin_ 29th August 2008 10:21 PM

I simply say "Humming".
But if I had to include the 7/4 I would say Humming seven four.

GRACE 29th August 2008 10:23 PM

Humming seven four, I too take it as a time signature

Chibi_Venus 29th August 2008 10:59 PM

Leave it to Ayu to make a song into the weirdest (and one of the rarest) time signatures.

So, what does "yon bun nana" translate to?
