How do I....
Tell the difference between a Japanese version of M and an overseas version of M?
Like is there any significant difference on the cd, or something? I'd really like to know because I recently got it used, but don't know whether it's Japan edition or overseas.. |
You mean between an overseas and Japanese I guess, not between Japanese and Japanese :P
Check the number on the spine of the CD, if it says "AVCD" it's the Japan version. Spoiler:
|
Haha pardon. Yes.
But like, is the overseas number different then? |
The overseas versions aren't labeled with AVCD, but something else. I don't know about the HK versions, but my Taiwan copy of A Song for xx (my only overseas CD) is labeled AVTCD.
|
Ohokay. Thank god. Haha.
I got M for like 3$. So it wouldn't have mattered. But still. yay. Haha. I don't really want to buy os versions of anything. Bleh. xD |
also for overseas, they get chinese translation sheets too, and if it have an OBI, it'll be in chinese or whatever language
and 4 of my ayu albums is labeled with AVJCD (they're taiwanese press) |
^Oh, mine is probably HK version then, lol
|
I never did understand why the HK versions are AVTCD, but yes, that's HK. TW versions are, in fact, AVJCD.
|
Oh okay! Excellent.. It is a JPN Release.. Haha. I don't like having os Ayu cds.
Never ever ever. :P |
My Singapore Secret is ATVCD, but my Singapore GUILTY (free doubleside poster) is AAJCD, and my Malaysia GUILTY (free PB) is AAJCD too. Means anything?
|
My guess is that before 2008, Singapore used basically reprinted versions of the HK stuff. Mainland chinese releases did the same thing (Mainland chinese releases had both the AVTCD stock number AND the SCD stock number on the packaging). Probably after that, singapore & malaysia got a specific pressing (and therefore new stock number) for that area. My guess is that it stands for something like Avex Asia J-Pop CD.
EDIT: I just did some surfing and it seems that AAJCD is an alternate HK stock number prefix.... ayu's avex asia discography has both stock number prefixes. AAJCD and AAJSG seems to have come into play from "GUILTY" onwards. (http://www.avexasia.com/cn/artist/ar...HAMASJ&t=1&s=2) Can anyone with an HK version of GUILTY or A COMPLETE comment on that? |

For those interested:
- My Korean copy of (miss)understood says SMJTCD (for SM entertainment probably). - My bootleg copy of Rainbow (which I discovered when I got it, don't do ebay guys!!) has a completely fake one: ALCP. |
The AL is for "Alion". It's not arbitrary. But any bootleg is gonna have a stock number for its company.
|
Ah... with AVCD it is original Japanese Version? Thanks for the Information! (^.^)
