About printing OBI strips
Hi!
I just want to ask a few questions about printing OBIs: - Is it okay to use Ink Jet printer for printing OBI or LASER jet printer? - What kind of paper they use for it? Is it photo paper or other type of paper? So far, I had 2 singles with no OBI and I want to make one in order to make them look "complete". Thanks in advance! ^^, |
-That depends on the kind of paper, but color lasers give consistently better quality, in my opinion. Just make sure you have your color settings correct - what's on your monitor isn't gonna be what's on the paper.
-They use the same paper as the insert or booklet cover. Not usually as glossy as photo paper, but heavier than regular matte letter paper. It's bordering on oaktag thickness. There's also usually perforation on either side of the spine part of the obi, but you can probably ignore that. |
go to a print store and show them one of the obi's you've got and they can tell you what type of paper it is, it's gramature and everything.
it's very easy to tell when you're a printer + why not tell them to print it for you? but you'll have to print more then 1 obi, because it's not profitable for them to print just 1 obi in the original quality, you'll have to print more of them. don't worry you can put just 2 of them on a A4 paper, and print it once. but make sure it's digital printing that's the only way you can actually print it for this quantity (and no it's NOT the same as your home printer, you can't compare the quality of digital printing with the laser or ink-jet printer, beleave me, i'm a printer). anyways i hope this helps^^ |
