Dancing Queens Of Japan

As we Know Boa, Koda Kumi, & Namie Amuro are like the top dancers for female Jpop.

But recently I been looking at their pv's and I have to say. It's not as good as it used to be. Either that or they're not putting any effort into it.

I noticed Namie's Slip Up around Can't Sleep, Can't Eat.

BoA's around Sweet Impact

& Koda Kumi around Freaky.

I don't know Maybe is just me but I can recall them dancing way better some time ago.

Koda Kumi: Secret - Black Cherry Era
Boa: Listen To My Heart - OUTGROW Era
Namie Amuro: Style - Want Me, Want Me Era

Cant Sleep Cant Eat Im Sick was SOOO easy for Namie's standard seriously...She's capable of better things...
But yes, Namie's dance...may look easy now but Im sure they are still challenging...I think Sexy Girl's and WHAT A FEELING's dances were very fun though...
Im glad she is moving on to more FUN dances rather than just for show

as for Koda...Since she cleaned up, I think that's why her dances have been less...erotic? and less...cool looking..
I do miss JUICY's choreography...TABOO is quite a dance song but it too doesnt have the dance routine like before...I MISS KUU's dance too! hahaha...
Kingdom tour didnt have much of that..

BoA...still amazed me with the recent THE FACE live...Bad Drive was freaking awesome..and now im US..I think, her dancing is improving actually..but she just doesnt showcase to Japanese fans..the last being LOSE YOUR MIND

you're right...seems like their very dance songs have kinda...slowed down in terms of choreogrpahy...

(on the contrary, Ayu is dancing more HAHAHHA jk)

CSCEIM was a joke for Namie, yes. The funny thing is that Shawnette Heard choreographed that PV and that was seriously the best she could come up with?

Not that simple isn't best sometimes.

Sexy Girl is obviously <3 though. Her back-up dancers looked so stupid in the video in comparison to her. She performed the choreography in ROCK STEADY so smoothly.

BoA's a good dancer, lol wut? Have you seen the LWT choregraphy?

It's not a matter of anyone slipping up, as we know that they are clearly well and able.

It's just lazyness/preferance of more simple choreography probably. Not that it's a bad thing.

I like BoA as a dancer. I really like her in Eat You Up, but I haven't seen enough of her videos to say if she got better or worse.

Namie, I don't like her dancing, mostly because she looks really robotic, like she's not really into or feeling it. In terms of her videos overall, her stuff never looked all that complicated to begin with.

I guess Kuu is the best dancer of them all, but her dancing has gotten worse since FREAKY. That video was a mess. But, I did like TABOO, it wasn't all that complicated, but it worked for the video.

I would say that the best dancer I´ve seen is Chisa from GIRL NEXT DOOR. She is awesome... watch the drive away video if you want to see what´s real dancing xD She almost breaks her hips xDDD

From the tops of the tops, Kumi rocks it for me. Although she is not dancing as much as she used to, she does it very well, and better than it, she SAYS things with her dancing, you can feel the energy she puts into it, unlike Namie who always has that stoned expression face that annoys me. I don´t see all the fuss about Namie´s dancing anyway, she was never that great, imo. BoA is ok... I´ve seen Lose your Mind and Eat You Up only, but from what I´ve heard she seems to deserve the good dancer title.

I would say BoA, Nami Tamaki and 4 girls from SPEED are great dancers

BoA has the best coreography for eat you up,

and also namie and Kuu

Look Who's Talking?...How can you base ALL her years of hardwork on that song.and Furthermore, that song's full choreography hasnt been revealed yet?...

Bad Drive kicks ass totally...her dances have all been great

I've noticed too. Namie at least has the age excuse though, but the dancing in her tours is still usually great. Also, Namie's dance period should be greatly expanded to include nearly all of the 90s as well. :) If you are looking for evidence of her technical skills as a dancer - jumps, pirouettes etc., you've really gotta look at her stuff from the early/mid-90s.

She seems an ok dancer in the video, but she barely moves at all in the lives.

Oh hell no.

Anyway, I do notice that Namie's dances are not as good as they used to be too. Koda kumi is so not a dancer. It's laughable that anyone would consider her that. She has her times where she can dance well, but not often at all.

Out of all I would say BoA is the best at dancing. She works the hardest at it and you can tell.

I would say that Koda is really good at showing emotion when she dances - she really gets the feeling across, and that is important. So I would consider her good as well. BoA is also very good but mainly when it comes to more hip hop/modern style dancing. When it comes to more technical elements like turns and leaps and whatnot I'm not sure what she can do (I did ballet for a long time so I like to look at dancers technical skills in addition to the other things in order to rate them.^_^) So by that standard I usually go with Namie - she proved in the Super Monkeys era that she is more than proficient enough at technical skills and she had a lot of attitude in her dance throughout most of the 90s and early 2000s. I agree that she is kinda losing that lately though. Her tours are still great however - much better than the TV lives.

The comment about Koda. Yes she used to show it in her dancing. i.e. Hands video small dancing scene.

Kingdom 29th December 2008 12:14 AM

tru fax about kumi being the best dancer. i also like namie's a lot. boa is too technical with her dancing and it looks like stuff i've seen before a million times.

but i forgot about stephanie... she is obviously the best dancer... as well as the most beautiful.

rainday 29th December 2008 02:28 AM

I don't know if any of these people are actually great dancers. Sure they can follow choreography but I highly doubt they can freestyle. BoA has the best technique and I enjoy Namie's fluidity in her moves. Kuu's ok.

Sorry, I meant that she IS a good dancer.

And Namie showing no emotion when she dances? lol okay. Whatever. Say she was "never good" and watch her older stuff and tell me if YOU could pull of that stuff with so much fluidity, all the while singing perfectly in-tune.

*agrees*

I think I would put it like: BoA is the best DANCER, Namie's the best at both dancing and singing, and Kuu is a runner-up in both categories. Although Namie in her younger days could be a good contender to BoA, idk.

*MUAH* Say hello to the coochie :mad:mad:mad

Kobayashiwoof 30th December 2008 03:21 AM

BoA is a fantastic dancer
Namie can be really stiff and boring
Kumi is average these days, her Hot-Stuff performance at LIVE TOUR 2005~first things~ was.. hot stuff ew pun

But some of the girls from Tenjochiki, Foxxi misQ, Ya-Kyim are fantastic dancers too.
If you look at the lesser known j-pop/urban artists you will find much better ones than the popular 3.

Sundae 30th December 2008 03:23 AM

They are different types of dancers. Kuu is a sexy dancer. If you ask her to move seductively, she can do it the best. Better than BoA and Namie.

Dance and choreography wise, BoA and Namie are the same. A young Namie is a young BoA. BoA has gotten more precise with training and so did Namie. Then Namie started dancing with her poker face.

I give the title of Dancing Queen to Namie simply because of seniority. BoA comes second so she's a Dancing Princess. While Kuu is the Queen Concubine.

lol, I like that. :)

emi♡ 30th December 2008 06:36 AM

I don't really get feeling from namie either :(

but I still think she's awesome. She is stiff sometimes...she has interesting bouts of stiffness...and her face...is...ever unchanging...She can sing awesome while she dances though...and her voice is the most pleasant overall...

I really like kuu back during SHAKE IT...I think she dances great in PVs...her pole dancing thing at Kingdom tour was nice LoL I think she has a lot of potential to be great, but, meh.

BoA's cool I guess...she seems the most technical to me.

meh I don't know...I think they are all capable of the same things...they just go about it in different ways.

bluegie 30th December 2008 11:42 AM

I can't comment on BoA because I never like her music, so I never watch her videos and stuff.

Technically I will say Namie wins over kuu, but kuu shows a strong emotion towards her dances tho. I won't really say Namie is getting bad. What she did in rock steady/what a feeling/sexy girl are still considerably good. Kuu, on the other hand, slips up so much after FREAKY. I really miss her old dances like Shake It, Butterfly, Candy, Juicy, etc.
