CDJapan taxes

Hi,

I've ordered only once at CDJ before, Mirrorcle World with EMS, and didn't get taxes, but I read that some people have gotten it before with larger orders. So I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with CDJapan's EMS and lives in Europe?

Specifically/preferably the Netherlands, but France or something is fine too. ^^ I'm wondering if you got taxes or not with EMS and a large order.

Thanks. :D

Milox 26th February 2009 01:30 AM

Nop. And I believe that the only way you could get taxes would be if you order like 20 things within a month, or your package is too large/big. As in you order a bamboo or something.

I live in France and always take EMS.
A couple of years ago, I never had taxes.
But now it seems that I get taxes at customs when my parcel worth more than 100€ approximately. And I've to pay like 60€ of taxes :thud

I'm not sure if I get taxes (when it's more than 100€) all the time. But usually it is the case I think.

Yet, I don't know if it is only the case wit EMS?

I hope I helped you a bit! :)

cdjapan taxes?
CDJAPAN cant charge you taxes on their articles if the purchase is for an overseas address

do you mean Custom fees? they can be added no matter in which online store you buy them. It completely depends on your country's law of commerce. Also depends on they way the customs paperwork is filled (CDjapan has brains and know how to fill them out, not like other online shops XD).
The best way to avoid... lets say, the best way to pay less is to check your order as a gift, because most commerce legislations arround the world will exclude gifts from customs fees

Thanks for your replies. ^^

Custom fees, whatever the official term is. :P Actually, I e-mailed CDJ as someone pointed out that when the value of the package is on the package and the customs can read it, they charge it with taxes. And they told me they have to write it there and that thus I will get taxes. S_S Yet, YesAsia doesn't write the value down?

Odd.

@mishi: Hmm, cool tip, but doesn't gif wrapping cost money?@_@

Odd.

Yesasia sends stuff through Deutsche post (Germany) to the Netherlands, so we don't have to pay taxes, even when I ordered way more than €100 worth.

the only time I had to pay taxes was when I ordered a cellphone through them.

jimex289 26th February 2009 06:58 AM

I've never heard of that before.

At CDJ it always depends on how the tax-border is in your country. In Germany it is at 22€ that is not much. A CD+DVD Version from CDJ I will have to pay taxes because teh stupid thing is they include the shipping. so when an item is 20€ and shipping is 5€ i will have to pay taxes because the whole cost is over 22€.
And it also depends on luck. My last CDJ order over 22€ I didnīt have to pay tax, because I chosse Plain Envelope so the custom didnīt bother to check it.

noidea 26th February 2009 07:16 PM

I(germany) had to pay 8.67 extra for my AT08 dvd, but for other things I never payed taxes, I had luck before(and I always just bought cds, smaller, so they dont check it that easily)

Thanks for your replies!

So basically, CDJ always ends up w/ taxes for packages worth more than 22 euro's to the Netherlands? Then how come I always read people say how they get CDJ items on the day of release? Which would mean no taxes. Are there no taxes to the US, or is taxes with CDJ just really rare?

@Blast: Have you ever used CDJ before? ^^

because in America we don't have customs taxes. We only pay sales tax, if that.

But anyway, I have a question, mishidabo, The gift thing, does that work for personal parcels as well?

Do they charge for personal packages? Like if I sent my friend something that was worth over 100 euros, would they have to pay the taxes on it?

Would I have to lie on how much it's worth lol

Yes I have, a couple of times. I mostly order from them whenever they have better extras/prizes than YA has.
But only when I really want it, cause their shipping costs can be pretty high. ^^

Did you get taxes anytime?

And did you order with EMS or standard? ^^

I used them once before, EMS with Mirrorcle World and no taxes. So I'd prefer CDJ. But that was only 26 euro's and ordering NEXT LEVEL is like 50 euro's, so with all the stories about taxes, I'm afraid the customs are gonna hold it for a week and give me crazi taxes again. X_x Whatcha think?

PinkShinigami 28th February 2009 01:22 PM

Uhm.. What is taxes? T__T

22€ is for Germany. I donīt know till which amount it is tax-free in your country, you should look in the internet or phone them and ask.

Kagome-chan 28th February 2009 02:01 PM

I preorder the USB from CDJapan and I choose EMS...I live in Italy...
The total of USB+shipping cost is 80€...

I fear that I will have to pay the customs fee...

But it's so stupid...I pay a lot of money and after all I have to pay other money???

the3ye 28th February 2009 02:22 PM

something to read.
http://eur-lex.europa.eu/Notice.do?m...e=&hwords=null

especially
Quote:

3. in Article 27 the value of ECU 22 shall be replaced by EUR 150;

so If your order is below 150€ then it's customs free, but.... it can be charged with VAT (up to 22€ it's VAT free. I've heard they're going to change that too). Like in Poland it's 22%. But it's hard to predict whether they'll do it, or not. Since December I had one order exceeding 22€ and they didn't charge VAT. I have some expensive orders on March, then I'll see what happens...

It's 22 here too, or at least it says so on a forum. I thought it was like 26, though. Regardless, it's not high enough to get NEXT LEVEL free from taxes. :C

I hope Blasterion returns to the topic.:innocent

the3ye 28th February 2009 08:01 PM

22€ is in whole EU. I doubt they would charge VAT for small orders, especially with like <5 items inside box. But, who knows how it really works :/ Hope they'll change this limit too :/
