Next Level Lyrics

I have to ask this, is anyone else a fan of Ayu's new lyrics? Because I am even though I like dark music, music that questions humanity, or love songs. I am really a fan of Ayu's new light yet simple music, this is not simplicity like fairyland(which I think was not as simple as fans like to claim it is) or a calm soothing feeling that you get from songs like forgiveness but this feeling is different. Its serene like almost heaven like for me(not the song, that song has too much emotion in it for me after a while, its too heavy lyrics included) but I get this feeling when I listen to Bridge to the Sky, Green, Days, Next Level, Curtain Call. I know that I am not making any sense and that I am just rambling on and on bt I am really enjoying this new Ayu quite a bit, because like I said before I cannot always listen to such dark heavy music. Well like I said before sorry and does anyone else feel the same way that I do?

I don't think that any of the lyrics of Next Level are simple... and I don't think that fairyland or forgiveness lyrics are simple too... IMO most of her fans around here just don't got the message...

noidea 5th June 2009 10:32 PM

^ that exactly

The outer form of many of her lyrics are simple, but if you think about them they aren't nearly as simple as they seem to be.

I agree, some of ayu's lyrics might appear simple lately in their appearance but most of them still have deep meanings, metaphores or motives.
The songs with the simple ones still got strong messages that people can't easily understand.

I think that saying you don't like ayu's lyrics lately because they are simple is just another excuse to not like a song.
I appreciate opinions of people that don't like that because of the lyrics though most just don't care since they can't understand or thus reading translations or try to analyse.
Some of her songs now lyrically are better than some older songs' lyrics imo.
Some of them are even less simple.
It's still doesn't make a song bad or good. The question is what you like (if you care for japanese songs lyrics).

Andrenekoi 5th June 2009 10:51 PM

And there are those fans who thinks that "deep" means "sad" :P

truehappiness 5th June 2009 11:39 PM

Deep imo just causes you to think about it.

When you get that "Oh" moment then you're like "I get it!".

But meh, there are people out there who hate Ayu's lyrics because they're so cheesy[????] and lame. But I for one love them because they fit just about any situation I may be in.

I love that feeling! It's great!

And you have to admit, Curtain call's lyrics are pretty simple. But just because the words are simple, it's a pretty deep song. It's very emotional and not just sad. Just full of emotion. I love it.

i don't really think she has "new lyrics" like a whole different type of lyrics, most of her messages are different in the NEXT LEVEL album. but TBH, I am REALLY enjoying the next level album much more than any of her older albums lately. i even listened to Duty the other day and followed with NEXT LEVEL and realized NL is a much better and more fun album. i love how fun and entertaining her music is getting again. and lyrically she is still the same, still writing about stuff i can relate too.. there's nothing simple in her lyrics besides Curtain call.

Right you guys are all right I was not clear, when I said simple I was referring to straightforward. I think most ffans can agree that Ayu has had some very vague lyrics, which is great if songs are up for interperation and of people are willing to analyze songs, and I just want to add in there that I never did say that fairyland was simple at all.And I do enjoy Ayu's thought provoking lyrics, but I enjoy her forwardness even more. And I do like her muisc now even more because it is straightforward, I don't ever remember saying that I disliked her music because I thought her lyrics were simple. I just like her honesty and clarity, but don't get me wrong I do enjoy analyzing music videos, I am not lazy in that sense (cleaning my room is a very different story, I am surprised that my mom still lets me live in it). Yet I really do like that feeling of accomplishment when I finally understand a song and whomever posted that her lyrics may seem simple but they are not, if you dwelve beneath the surface, is totally correct I know that for a fact.

SolarAngel 6th June 2009 12:20 PM

I like that her lyrics are general most of the times, because it's easy to relate to or understand on a personal level. Although some of her darkest songs were in her earlier albums, i find they have light-hearted, hopeful songs too like key, TO BE and evolution. I really enjoyed reading the translations to NL's lyrics but i found them too good for the music. Like the songs can be arranged in a different way that brings out the lyrics better but it's probably just me not liking the genre...

ayuayu798 6th June 2009 02:26 PM

I think her lyrics have become more more lighter but they're still pretty deep! Her songs seems to have the common theme or happiness, self-confidence,and courage... Her earlier lyrics were the total opposite from those themes...

I was not talking about you xD

dawnss 6th June 2009 10:35 PM

OK thanks Andrenekoi sorry about that

dawnss 6th June 2009 10:36 PM

Thanks for all the responses the replies are pretty interesting

ALfromHELLSING 6th June 2009 11:02 PM

I'm relieved kinda reading comments in this thread. Cause after a few comments in other thread I thought that, most of the people here think that her lyrics has become weaker and not deep anymore. I do not know how anybody could possible say that. I'm Ayu fan 2+ years, but her lyrics DEFINITELY hasn't become lighter or weaker. Rule, rollin' & identity light lyrics? I will never agree with that. And it's understandable that she's not writing the same lyrics like she did for her previous albums. Things in her life keep changing and she's moving on.

AyUta 7th June 2009 06:01 AM

I like most of Ayu's lyrics, including NL's. :yes

chloeM 7th June 2009 05:21 PM

^ yea yea~~

TeddyGrahams 7th June 2009 11:44 PM

I know what you mean. I love this lyrical change. I think it's more confidant and straight forward. Diva~ :D ish kinda.
