Problems using the Search engine...
 

I'm sorry if this was already addressed elsewhere; I looked through a few pages and didn't find much that was current... I only just came back to AHS after a break of several months and I noticed that I'm having some troubles using the search feature. Both Advanced and regular, whenever I look up anything I get directed to a white page that says:


Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 262144 bytes) in /home/ahsfor2/public_html/forum/search.php on line 1011

I'm able to find things by using the Tag search but I was just curious if it's a problem on my end or anything like that~

Happens to me for the last few days as well

I think this usually happens when there's a load on the server?

i dont know...it's been happening to a lot of people for a long time...I think most people just give up on searching and use google or something.

^ Yeah, I've been trying google but sometimes it gives me wonky results that like, aren't related to AHS at all, haha. So usually I just try to use the tag search.. Makes it a tiny bit easier at least.

And, yeah, its been happening to me. It looks like its been happening to everyone.

And this may sound a little silly, but how do regular search and tag search differ?

[edit] I googled "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 262144 bytes)" and it seems this happens in other places, and most of the results are contain something about .php files, not forum searches. I'm not much of a computer person, so does anyone know what a .php file is? And if its pertinent to our problem here?

I'm not sure what that file is, but a tag search is different (I think?) from a regular search because you can click between doing a regular, advanced or tag search when you click on the search button. Tag searches are good but it's a little meh sometimes because people don't always tag stuff...
