About Ayumi 8cm single

I just want to ask fellow collector expertise here about the 8cms singles.
How actually the cds are packaged? Izzit the cardboard are just sealed with only plastic bag, or hard jewel case?

I've seen some with seems like sealed with only plastic wrap bag like this:

http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...707200_872.jpg

but I also found those that got hard case like this one which is pretty nice imo:

http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t...218tw4cw-1.jpg

So want to ask whether the actual brand new come with hard case or just plastic wrap? Hope somebody can answer my doubt here. Thanks a lot.

Maybe the hard case ones are just plastic wrapped ones minus the plastic wraps :shrug. Perhaps if you shoot the plastic wrapped ones at a different angle they'll look the same as the hard cased one. I dunno. But this is interesting.

hmm,i don't think the first photo cds have that hard casing...based on the LOVE is album

Some ebay sellers add hard cases for save shipping, but as far as I know sealed singles should have only plastic wrappings

They're just a long piece of paper with a GameCube sized CD jamed in there. With lyrics on the top and credits on the back with tracklisting.

And this brings up the question ~ when its classified as a 3 inch cd~ is that the same as any other regular cd these days? Meaning it can be played on any cd player or computer?

Iyreen 30th July 2009 09:16 AM

Oh ok, so that means the hard case doesnt came with the single, but separately. I wonder where we can get those hard cases? It look nice to protect those 8cms cd.

Yes, they can still play in computers and regular CD players.

If you guys want, I can take pictures of my Namie 8cm singles to show you what they look like.

Yeah, it is really just a long piece of paper, where the "case" (don't know what to call it) is actually just glued on.

I have 2 singles without the case, which I have an elastic around because it's actually opening a bit by it self..

Then I have 3 that's in cases, but that is only something that's on it to protect it. Though I really like this design better..

So you can buy both without missing something hehe, though the case ones probably don't have the plastic. A note too is, that if you have one with a case, and wants to take it out, you need to glue it together again

Delirium-Zer0 30th July 2009 06:52 PM

I'm not sure anyone sells the hard plastic cases anymore, since the format's been dead for nearly a decade now... The only time I've ever gotten one is when I bought a 3" single and the seller had the single inside one already. :(

If anyone finds where to find those plastic cases, definitely let us know. My 3" singles need them badly o_x

Maybe the Chinese press editions, the pictures you have, didn't come in the case while the Japan version did? You can tell its the OS version because her name is written in Chinese. I'd love to have those....

PinkShinigami 1st August 2009 01:25 PM

^ Nope. I have only Japanese versions (cat. number AVDD), both with- and without cases

Blasterion 1st August 2009 04:18 PM

3 of my 8 single collection didn't come with hard casing.
All of which are japanese versions and non ex-rental. The ex-rental didn't came in hard cases either, which I own a few of too.
The 3 singles with just the plastic wraps/bags, have stickers on em like on the first pic.
The ones with the hard cases do not..
So I'm thinking they weren't sold in hard cases...yeah..^^

OR! lol .. some nr. editions were pressed and sold with cases and then were wrapped in plastic, with the usual stickers on it and then these plastic wrappings were just tossed away, with the stickers.
If you know what I mean..?

But I haven't heard anything or seen any pictures of this.
