Namie Amuro tops the public image satisfaction polls

Two days ago, a Chinese media company released the results from its 2009 Survey on Satisfaction of Public Image of Japanese Performing Celebrities. Japanese R&B and hip-hop singer Namie Amuro, 32, topped the poll with 906.96 points, surpassing Japan's pop princess Ayumi Hamasaki who ranks close behind at 977.33 points.

Renowned Japanese animation artist, Hayao Miyazaki achieved 879.94 points, while Tanimura Shinji, Abe Hiroshi, Takenouchi Yukata, Utada Hikari, Norika Fujiwara, Sakata Tojuro and Takuya Kimura are all also placed in the top ten positions.

According to reports, this marks the first time a global survey is conducted based on the public's opinion of Japanese performing artistes. The survey results are a combination of the public's opinion and the influential levels of the artistes.

A fashion icon, Amuro continues to remain the media darling of the '90s generation. Her unwavering determination and continuous good album releases have earned her a spot in most people's hearts. From the results of the polls, majority of artistes listed in the top 10 positions belong to the 1970s generation such as Takuya Kimura, Ayumi Hamasaki, and Norika Fujiwara.

After news of Noriko Sakai's drug scandal erupted, the Japanese actress's rapid fall from grace can be noted from the polls as she currently ranks at the bottom and stand

But Ayu's 977.33 points are more than Namie's 906.96 points. Where is the mistake? XD

AyuHamasaki01 24th September 2009 01:44 PM

Sooo... Namie has 906.96 and Ayu has 977.33 points?
Is it me, or doesn't that make Ayu the winner .... D:

It's really confusing you know.

AyUta 25th September 2009 02:20 AM

oh namie <3. congrats to namie :luv2 hm, did they mean to put Utada Hikaru, and not hikari?

pommy48 25th September 2009 02:22 AM

^ it's probably just a typo, but isn't 光 hikari anyways?

mcluva420 25th September 2009 02:22 AM

^it's in Chinese ;)

pommy48 25th September 2009 02:25 AM

because her chinese name is 宇多田光 and 光 is light in Japanese, and since this is from Yahoo Singapore, so maybe they just mixed up the words

Good for Namie, and I'm glad that Ayu can achieve such a high number despite not having a spectacular marketing campaign like Vidal Sassoon.
