Ayu made famous by anime? what...?

Someone has made a video on youtube and claims that Ayu was made famous in 2001 coz of the anime she lent her songs too and apparently when you think of anime, you think of Ayu... what?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ksxXv6lWaM

do you guys agree with this?

Kazeyomi 26th March 2010 12:35 AM

my reaction to the video:

what the hell is this?

btw anime have contribuited to her popularity, but it's not what have made her famous.
But when I think of anime I don't think of Ayu :roflmao

Cherry Dynamite 26th March 2010 12:39 AM

No lol....

ayupan90 26th March 2010 12:40 AM

THANKYOU lol

primavera♥ 26th March 2010 12:40 AM

just dont watch their vids. i didnt watch the new ones as theyre usually pointless

it took me forever to figure out ayu was used in anime songs. lol. there are other artists. when i think ikimono-gakari, i think Naruto haha. and many international hikki fans may not have known of her without KH. at least not me XD. ayu = anime? wtf. of all people. hell no. but ya know. maybe theres that person who does of course :)

CHE.R.RY 26th March 2010 12:45 AM

Well they obviously haven't been doing their homework :innocent.

Crystal_Ageha 26th March 2010 12:50 AM

Um.....wut, lol?? First of all, the "Queen of Anime" is certainly, without a doubt, Nami Tamaki. But we won't get into all that, lol...

Ayumi only did InuYasha, right? My goodness, that anime is more famous for it's music than anything, lol! And you know why..? It's because they picked some of the biggest pop stars of the time (which, a few of them are also the biggest Asian pop stars ever, to date) to do the music. Ayumi Hamasaki was in the middle of her peak, Namie Amuro was at the end of her peak, BoA was just starting out in Japan (which also happens to be the beginning of her peak), hitomi was in the middle of her peak, Do As Infinity had just started to peak..... You get my point, yes? ;)

A lot of Westerners found out about Ayu, Namie, BoA, and Do As Infinity (and Dream, and probably all the others, too) through either this or another theme song they may have done, but that's normal. That's how most Westerners find out about J-Pop. Even somebody as huge as Hikaru Utada was completely unknown in Western world to even a lot of J-Pop listeners until Kingdom Hearts. Kinda disappointing, but that's just how it is. The difference between most of these mega-stars (with maybe the exception of DAI and Dream) is the fact that you CAN find HUGE hits from every one of them, without running into an anime. Ayu, of course, has countless number ones many will find her through, Namie has songs like CAN YOU CELEBRATE?, Hikki has Automatic, etc...

Pieces_of_SEVEN 26th March 2010 12:50 AM

gfto...seriously. what a moron.

ayupan90 26th March 2010 12:53 AM

gosh I love you guys :P

microphone 26th March 2010 12:56 AM

she helped promote Inuyasha along many other top stars like Namie and BoA, of course. But I disagree with him.

ayupan90 26th March 2010 12:56 AM

omg I've only just actually looked at the video contents and there is some ****ty dancer... wtf lol think it might be a piss take?

reading the dude's channel stuff, i think he is an Ayu hater... :/

i didnt mean to bring Ayu hating stuff into the forum, sorry peeps :(

CHE.R.RY 26th March 2010 01:07 AM

^ Ehhh we're used to it :laugh. If he's saying crap like that then it wouldn't be surprising....people always try to find lame excuses for how an artist they dislike got famous...like "Oh! They're just famous for eye candy!" (although that sometimes is true lol) or "The tie-ins made them famous!" :rolleyes

Point is, people jump at any chance they can take to bring down someone they don't like :no.

GRACE 26th March 2010 01:15 AM

It's a western fan most likely. A lot of western fans I've seen know about Ayu from Dearest and no more words. so naturally they'd think that she was an anime singer, because that's how they know her =/

VRGRK 26th March 2010 01:41 AM

Honestly I am not going to even say that ayu was made famous because of Anime, simply because anyone who has taken the time to do proper research will know that she is famous because her fans love her "deep, meaningful lyrics" and that she is able to connect well to her fans.

I'm not going to say that anime, inuyasha in this case didn't contribute to ayu's populartiy in western society because I'm quite sure that it played quite a role in her being as known as she is in the west. I'm not saying that everyone who knows about Ayu learned about her from Inuyasha but how the vast majority of people who get into foreign music, Japanese music specifically usually get into it from either a video game like Kingdom Hearts (Utada Hikaru) or anime like Inuyahsa (Ayu, DAI, V6, Hitomi, BoA, Namie...).

I know that there are a few people here and there that don't even watch anime but are into foreign music and get into it from either the internet, or they know a friend who is from another country, etc.

Spoiler:

This next thing is a little off topic but i'm just going to come out and say it. Doesn't it just bug the crap out of you when you are listening to music in a foreign language such as japanese and people automatically asume you are some kind of anime-obsessed person? I know it really bugs the heck out of my because I can't even remember the last time i've even watch anime of any kind... Its been years.

primavera♥ 26th March 2010 01:41 AM

^^^ chyeah. and its annoying. always trying to find irrelevant ways. so pathetic. i never understood them anyway. i may not like a certain musician but im not gonna go make stupid vids for goodness sakes. people these days . . .:rolleyes

what can u do but laugh? ^__~

TITANIC 26th March 2010 01:57 AM

Dream, Nami Tamaki, DAI, Ikimono gakari have more contribution for Anime. Ayu just lent her music for Inuyasha and nothing else.
I cant agree with him

colleenxduh 26th March 2010 02:02 AM

I'll admit I discovered Ayumi from Inuyasha back in like 2003 (o.O whoa been awhile lol) but when I think of anime I don't think of Ayu and vice versa.

and that video is totally wtf

majrakun 26th March 2010 03:05 AM

The only reason I knew Ayu sang for Inuyasha was because I came here. XD I definitely did not come across her through anime.

kinix 26th March 2010 03:52 AM

how about AMVs? there's alot of AMV using ayu's song ^^
