Legendary Songs

Many artist in the world are remembered for that one hit song that no matter how much we love or hate it, won't escape our minds. Songs that have reached a legendary status and follow from generation to generation. What do you think Ayu's legendary song(s) is?

To give you an example of what I'm talking about:

Michael Jackson - Billie Jean
Madonna - Like a Virgin
Britney Spears - Oops I did it again

My choices are a very select few, A Song for XX, M, Who... and Dearest. What do you all think?

Andrenkoi found this oricon poll from Ayu's anniversary here which indicates what Japan (or Oricon subscribers lol) feels her best songs are.

Sorry if this thread was created before...

I guess what you mean is an artists' "signature song", because I wouldn't put anything by Britney Spears as legendary :laugh
Anyway, for me it's M and Dearest in terms of greatness... Though probably SURREAL, evolution and Boys & Girls are the most remembered

Andrenekoi 31st March 2010 05:05 AM

I would say her biggest songs are s song for xx, boys & girls, seasons, M, evolution, dearest and voyage.

and maybe trauma, appears, surreal, step you, blue bird and days

The top three songs there on the Oricon list are exactly the three I was thinking of before opening the link. Actually, I'm surprised "A Song for XX" isn't in the top ten. I would figure it to be number three instead of "SEASONS".

The reason A Song for XX isn't on there because A Complete is a collection of all of Ayumi Singles. A Song for XX was never release as a single which is why its not on the list.

Personally I think M would be her "signature song" or w/e we want to call it. I love A Song for XX probably more then I like M. But I think she is more recognized for M which came out around her peak in the music industry, its also the first CREA song. While I would say A Song for XX is what really brought attention to her music, its something we will always remember and its a big part of a music career, but M would probably be better remember as Ayumi's song. Does that make sense?

ASFXX, Dearest, evolution, SURREAL

y_nathz 31st March 2010 07:34 AM

Wow I'm surprised that ASFXX wasn't on the list
And I though the number one was SEASONS..

Cherry Dynamite 31st March 2010 07:51 AM

For me A Song For XX, M, evolution, or Who...

critter333294 31st March 2010 08:08 AM

I'm surprised only one person mentioned Evolution. That's practically an Ayu staple!

Other than that i'd say SEASONS, Dearest, M, and maybe Boys & Girls

PoetGirl 31st March 2010 09:15 AM

I would say SEASONS and evolution.

Polyrhythm 31st March 2010 09:15 AM

The only Ayu song I will ever consider of legendary status is A Song For XX. She has a ton of great songs but nothing comes close to having the impact of ASFXX

JackieRos 31st March 2010 03:40 PM

I would say Dearest

AyUmIXx 31st March 2010 04:08 PM

i think it's her Dearest.. because Inuyasha is famous in many countries..

gallowsCalibrator 31st March 2010 05:35 PM

I think definitely Dearest, A Song for XX, evolution, and M~ Also, Boys & Girls is quite well known too, since she sings it a lot~

I'm under the impression that in Japan, SEASONS is her most famous song along with B&G, dearest and maybe evolution SEASONS also won the prize for best lyrics.

World wide, I instantly think of the (in)famous Canon by Pachelbel, ROndo alla turca by Mozart, Badinerie by Bach and beethovens 9th symphony. Even if you don't recognise the names I 'm sure you all know them

primavera♥ 31st March 2010 10:11 PM

M, Who . . ., evolution, Dearest, SURREAL, SEASONS, Trauma

people can always remember those songs. theyre her classics.

but for songs that arent so so old i guess STEP you is one. maybe Heaven?

But i see a good song in SURREAL, BOYS & GIRLS and Trauma.

I think this is about "Ayu songs that are remembered by japanese" not "Ayu songs you like"

MidnightGirl 31st March 2010 11:13 PM

You're right, my answer is wrong. But anyway i saw people giving opinions in this thread.
I think BOYS & GIRLS, Trauma, M and SURREAL.

rakeru 1st April 2010 12:06 AM

Billie Jean is definitely not MJ's most famous song. Anyway, for Ayu it's probably the unconquerable evolution.

chu-lips 1st April 2010 01:19 AM

i think thye're ayu's song during 2000-2002 which going to be her signature songs,,,

i like to say they're SEASON,evlution and voyage,,,,,,

when i watched any japanese tv such as karaouke contest...the participants who sing ayu song always sing those songs,,,,
