That's correct, 100 chon = 1 korean won.

At least 2 other dancers have nicknames (Shuya and Subaru) although I don't recall offhand, I'm sure others here will know.

ah i think i got it~ from deli's notes from TA message 340, it says

**I usually translate "doron" and "dororororon" as "ninja vanish" cuz ayu's goofy and that's what she'd say in english. In this case, she said "dorochon", so I had to stick the "chon" from "Chonchan" in there. That's all I could think to do. XD

so since ayu was signing off her messages with ninja vanish a lot that ZIN gave her the nickname of chon-chan

^ Informative.

Guys, I was joking about her using chon because it's a slur. XD
Do you honestly think Ayumi is racist? XD

I finally understood why Zin gave that nickname now, at first I thought it was just because it sounded cute, lol~ Thanks, pom!

Well, there's the infamous Yocchan! XD Shu-chan/Su-chan (Shuya) and Suba-sama (Subaru) too. She sometimes calls Zin 'Jin-san', although I'm not sure if she seriously calls him that, or was just playing around. 0__0 Ayu also calls Kayanocchi Nee-san (Big sister). Yeah, that's as far as I know. I think what she calls most of the other staff are nicknames as well (like Kome and Armageddon) , although I'm not sure whether Ayu were the one who gave those nicknames.

No, the "Chon" is most likely from the top-ponytail she had during the making of the "Days" PV. The ponytail somewhat resembled a top-knot, which in Japanese is called 丁髷 ("chonmage"). ZIN called her "Chonchan" on his blog when posting photos of the making of the PV.

"Doron" means "slipping out unnoticed" (my translation was "ninja vanish").... there was no "chon" in there to begin with - she signed off with a "chon" worked into the word "doron" so I translated it as "Nin-chon vanish" that day.

I remember hearing a rumor that Ayu is Korean but I always thought the origin of that rumor was confusion between Ayumi Hamasaki and Ahyoomee from SUGAR... "Chon" is the Japanese racial slur for Korean people though so I wonder if she is a Zainichi Korean...though I doubt it

^ I think that Ayumi is definitely Yamato Japanese. But, you never know, she could be anything. I know her mother's family is from Tokyo though.
