My mom likes these songs:
"M"-Ayumi
"Shanhai no Kaze"-Yuuko Nagazawa
"Eyes on me"-Faye Wong
"First Love"-Hikki

And my dad likes to sing along with the random English in Mini Moni songs.

And well, I think ELT ballads works well with anyone. I have to admit they make pretty good ballads
LOL our moms share the same taste, moms always love ballads and slow mellow or acoustic piano songs as I know...

By the way, how does your mother think of "evolution"? My mom comments it as a "suicide song" after hearing it for like only 30 seconds, she just can't stand noisy or rock/hip-hop songs at all...

My mom doesn't usually say much, even when she's using the computer for a breif moment and I still have my J-pop playing. However, she always has this knack for walking in right when Hanabi II is playing XD I commend her for even noticing it.

My mother isn't also very impressed with Ayu in general. She's never really said anything about her voice, (except for one time when - guess what, Hanabi II was playing...and then it was that she was screaming, even though she was certain she must be singing...very confusing XD)

She thinks that Namie is okay...that, and she sounds like a black artist. *shrug* I think it's just the style she's entering now. She swears she never remembers Hikki when I bring her up, although she's said time after time when I have her playing that she "has a really nice voice".

I played Hyde's "Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds" to take her back in the day yesterday, and she got a real kick out of that. XD Can't say I've ever had a "request" from her though. (that wasn't English)

Everybody else in my family is indifferent. My mom seems to be the only one who notices that I'm even listening to music. She also likes to make English words out of the Japanese. =P

My mum doesn't seem to mind what I listen to...then again my mum has strange tastes...my mum does however admit to liking Dir en Grey and Malice Mizer (but only occasionally) >.<

She also seems to like listening to anime songs...the Escaflowne soundtracks she absolutely adores (as do I)!

The main problem is that because we listen to Japanese/Korean/Chinese etc. music all of the time it does not seem foreign to us, but to our parents it must just seem like a rant of mystery...

My parents don't bother with my Japanese music. My mom's not a big music fan anyways, and my dad only likes progressive rock. Maybe some more stuff, but mainly that.

I think they see Jpop as 'just another weird thing' I listen to. I tend to listen to weird things. In other people's eyes. It's not weird ! >_<

my mom listen to anything. But she ever said that she prefers Ayu's voice to Kumi's.

My dad is a big fan of C-Pop & K-Pop ballads. Any kind of mandarin & korean ballads are like....his snacks. XD

My dad loves almost all Ayu songs and evolution is his favourite.

My mom, on the other hand, isn't fond of J-Music. She really hates the J-Rock/Visual Kei I listen to.

My mum really likes my japanese music.

She loves ayumi's songs, and will happily sit and watch her arena tours with me.
She loves momentum atm, and the video got her teary, awh

She likes Miyavi too.

But how she does adore Kagrra, she loves the sound of them so much

and Gackt xD

haha.

My step dad doesn't like it that much, he'll tolerate Miyai at times, and occasionally dir en grey. He liked X-Japan though.

My mom likes every JPop song I play to her, so basically she likes the newr Ayumi, Hikki, Kumiko and Namie material. I was so bummed when she said that she didn't like Mika's Kouhaku performance, but yesterday, when I played it to her for the 7th time, she kind of liked it!
As for ULTRA BLUE, when I played her Kairo, she said "I get this water feeling..." and I was like "o_____o; THE SONG'S NAME MEANS WATER ROUTE!". The same thing happened with WINGS, I played it to her and afterwards I deliberately asked, "Do you get a certain feeling?" and she answered "Yeah, it's kind of like flying."
