It's not only the lipstick, but also the eyeshadow, the make up on her cheeks, etc. They basically turned her into one of those sexy mama, which didn't suit hikki at all.. Probly they (and even hikki herself) wanna separate UTADA from hikki. The image for the pv, the covers, the promotional pics, are just not hikki at all.

That's why I never call her Utada. She has been a hikki since debut, and I've been calling her hikki since 1999.

^I started callikg her Hikki aboiut two and a half years ago. I didn't want to at first since I was got confused as to why they called her that instead of by her real name (duh it was her nickname Shanny). But I got caught up in and started calling her Hikki.

I went there the other day to see if that posted anything about her upcoming album and such and I didn't list anything new about her stuff, not even a "album info will be announced". =/ I hope that change her website up....it's in a need of a new layout.

^ LOL also a good point @ bluegie. I had actually had been saying a few months ago how the American Utada and Japanese Utada are almost like two completely different people...the Americans try to make Hikki look more sexy while in Japan she's very clean. That's the difference between American popstars and Japanese popstars (although of course, we've got some naughty popstars in Japan as well lol). Idk...it's just so different IMO. Unless, it was Hikki's idea
Somebody said Hikki said she wanted to experiment more with her english lyrics or something like that. One positive thing I have to say aboput Hikki's english music was how true to life some of the songs were. Just listen to them...they tell stories .


Oh and @ Luv...I didn't start calling Hikki 'Hikki' until two or three weeks ago even though I've been a fan for a couple years. I didn't like her nickname and I'm pretty sure it's obvious why lol.

I call her Utada because, for some reason, I just can't see her having a first name. It's weird, but when I first looked at the inside of HEART STATION and she signed her little message "Love, Hikaru", I was pretty much like, "...You are NOT Hikaru." I just don't consider her as Hikaru, she's always been Utada to me.

And I won't call her Hikki because I don't consider myself a fan of her.

Haha, I agree with you but I'm glad Hikki got to play dress-up and finally be a sexy lil diva for once I hope they do that again for Apple & Cinnamon.

True I agree . But what I love about her Japanese songs is that they are like poets with deep meaning reveal the facts about life (e.g., Deep River, Dareka, COLORS). Some are pretty straight foward and... just beautifully written (e.g., FoL, First Love, letters, etc.).

.. I hope she'll be a sexy natural MODERN Japanese.. Now I know why I hate her make up in exodus cover. They made her lips so small, and her eyes are smaller than usual with single eyelids (of course if I look closely they're double eyelids). The make up is just totally wrong to me.. LOL

Best selling in Canada hmv.. That's pretty amazing to me. I should check at my local hmv stores as well .

But you can catch up easily! Her new album HEART STATION has currently passed up Ultra Blue in sales. We're all wondering if it will hit the million mark.

And other than that, she's just been getting all these achievements, like charting and stuff.

This is so awesome... very few people can do better than their previous albums, especially after they've hit their peak already. This is really Hikki's comeback era. ULTRA BLUE sold 85k after it stopped selling 20k a week, so theoretically, HS should sell at least 995k, surely breaking the million mark. I wonder if it can outsell EXODUS!

I hope HEART STATION reaches past the million mark. I'm happy it outsold ULTRA BLUE because I liked HEART STATION a lot more than ULTRA BLUE. Her songs that she released betwen Exodus and ULTRA BLUE were definitely not some of my favourites.
But I liked HEART STATION a helluva a lot more. -_-;

Anyway, congrats to her for having HEART STATION sell better than ULTRA BLUE.

You're comparing Ayumi's music to Seiko Matsuda's...? What? All of the others sound pretty wrong, too.
And Stargate is generic, a very big portion of their songs are very similar.


Anyways, I hope Hikki scores a big drama tie-in, US style. Grey's Anatomy or something would be good, I guess? Some of the songs have gotten quite popular from that show, but then again, some haven't.
