The Official Katharine McPhee Thread
![]() The first single from her upcoming album. Dangerous is even produced by Danja, who contributed in almost all of the tracks on Nelly Furtado's latest album. I found both songs exceptional, particularly the lead track, I Lost You. Very, very catchy and her vocals are flawless. ![]() The debut album Never Saw It Comin'. Scorching hot cover aside, I expect this to be the most accessible, commerical, contemporary and fun American Idol pop record to date, if the leaked tracks indicate anything. ![]() Her gift to fans, free for downloading at her site. It's her rendition of O Come All Ye Faithful coupled with a lengthy poem and message by the singer herself. So sincere and awesome. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So far, I can conclude that she's one heck of a beautiful woman. The single cover for I Lost You might be plain but her picture there is stunning. Stunning I repeat. And the the album cover is just amazing, I'm speechless. Prettiest AI contestant to date. Personally, I wanted her to win, not Granddad and his boring rock stuff. Even her songs are all top-notch. A must-try. |

Eugh. I hated her. She had some nice performances, a stunning vocie when she tried to keep it low and jazzy. But her singing is often shaky, horrid, screechy, and sharp. Girl cannot belt - she sounds like a cat having sex. The sad thing is, she thinks she can belt and does it too much.
I wanted Elliott to win.

I think of her as a Kelly Clarkson Wannabe, but "Dangerous" was mildly good.

I'm just happy she's bringing some variety to the AI bunch. We already have rock, country, pop, boring-pop, sappy-R&B, exaggerated-R&B. I want Katharine's album to be dance/pop orientated, with as few as possible crappy A Moment Like This ballads.

Not as evil as Carmen Rasmusen.
And honestly, I'd prefer an album of jazzy sultry stuff from Kat. Nothing where her voice gets loud. New material, maybe a few standards - I think she could kill I Put A Spell On You if done right.

The first - and only - time I ever voted on AI was for her, lmbo. I bought her first single, too, even though I don't really care for either song.
And~ I'm super excited for her album. Production by Ryan Lelise, Chad Hugo, Nate Hills = <3 Edit~ Just downloaded "O Come All Ye Faithful" from her site. Sounds good, but I don't really like religious-themed X'mas music usually. I need to buy her new single. Last edited by drewbilation; 21st December 2006 at 09:04 AM. |

I agree with you there. I do love Katherine though. She definitely should have won, but I feel this will just be another Clay and Rubin situation anyways (where the runner-up's fame ends up being larger than the actual winner). The girl clearly has talent and I'm very excited for her album.

It'd be so cool if she outsell's Taylor Hicks.

I think Taylor's gonna sell quite well. Kat's a shot in the dark, but I don't see a lot of buzz about her. Don't think people care enough. Plus the delays are gonna kill her sales. Look at Justin Guarini. Hell, Bo was immensely popular during AI, but he popped into the bottom 2 once, a few album delays occurred, and 19E screwed with his sound... and he didn't do so hot.

Single-wise, Fantasia does rather badly in Billboard. But her over-singing sucks anyway.
I think Katharine can only either do very well or flop badly and unknowingly for now. If her songs are ignored by radio, she's history. Plus I think she should change her stage name, the "McPhee" sounds rather comical. Maybe just "Katharine". Justing Guarini didn't have any good material for his singles or album. He sucks, actually, plus he's not really good-looking. I heard William Young outsold Justin's album...

Just bought her album this past week. It's got some reallyreallyreally good songs and a couple of snoozers. I like it for the most part, though.
"Over It," "Not Ur Girl" and "Love Story" are current favorites. |

So much for blowing Taylor out of the water. She debuted with only 116,000. Much less than both Taylor's and Chris's debuts (298,000+ and 304,000). But more than Kellie Pickler's (79,000+). Since she was mentioned in this thread, Fantasia also debuted higher with 133,000+ copies (haha!).
Never liked this chick anyway... |

I'm sad that the sales weren't that wonderful. The album is really quite good. I picked it up the day it came out and I've been listening to it ever since. "Over It" is a great song and I hope that the next singles chosen are good tracks as well.

As long as there are songs on the album that are better than "Over It", this album could have legs. Same with Taylor Hicks, needs a single out pronto.
But goodness. Chris is really proving that he might have been the rightful winner for American Idol (though he's better off without the title, i.e. Bo Bice). I guess I take back my comment. She's tolerable compared to Kellie. |

The album is OK. I like some of the songs but there's something weird about her voice. Like... its too thin or something.
The CD cover is UGLY. It looks like she's sitting on a buttplug
