Maybe the A tattoo was just one of those temporary ones since the 1LOVE PV was around the Secret cover era. Like someone has mentioned, it was never solid that Ayu got a tattoo, it was always just an assumption, a rumour. Besides, if her tattoo was airbrushed during during the concert, wouldn't the stuff melt anyway because she's dancing and sweating like crazy?

Sorry to bring up an old thread, I just thought that maybe I should share some of this "proof". I was watching the last episode of Tomoya's drama from last summer, "My Boss, My Hero" and in the part at around 8 minutes it's revealed that his character, a Yakuza, has a HUGE tattoo all over his back and shoulders. And going through this scene in slow-motion (what can I say, I have too much time on my hands), after closer inspection his tattoo is clearly visible. And furthermore, it's NOT a T like some suspected, it's an A, I think identical to the one Ayu has!

Sorry for the poor quality of the screen caps, all I have on my computer is Paint so I really can't do much with it.

Honestly, I COULD just be seeing things ... but, even though the screen caps are bad, it's MUCH easier to see the tattoo when watching the video, so if someone could tell me how to make a short clip from a big video I could upload just that scene and anyone who's interested could judge for themselves.

I honestly do think that this and the 1LOVE screen cap act as "proof" that the tattoo is real. It IS possible to cover over a tattoo with makeup/concealer/airbrushing/photoshop/etc. I haven't seen any other (recent) shirtless pictures of Tomoya so I really don't know, but in the screenshots the "A" and the half-heart seemed darker than the surrounding fake-tattoo, so it seems real enough to me. I couldn't see the "wing" very well, but I think that part is lighter anyway, and it looks like they may have turned it into 'scales' in the larger tattoo. Judge for yourself.

Response to the Tomoya pictures:

I can clearly see an "A" on his sexy shoulder/breast meat.

I've always had a feeling that they both have tattoos, which isn't that big of a deal. One guy from Orange Range has a tattoo all over his leg. It isn't as 'taboo' as everyone outside of Japan thinks it is. Many young people are getting tattoos, especially those who studied overseas. I'm not trying to say it's normal for (Japanese) people to have their entire backs covered in dragons, but a little 'A' here and there is fine.

The more I re-read these tattoo threads & comments, the more I am leaning towards the tattoo being real. The thing that doesn't add up, as others said, is that if it is real, she keeps covering it up each and every time. If you don't want the thing to be seen, either don't get one or get it somewhere where it can be more easily covered (hip, inside ankle, etc).

I'm thinking she hides it to her stylists' content, which may mean that her staff isn't really happy she got one, or that the style she's pulling off diminishes with a visible tattoo.

i think its for their initials...A for ayumi and T for tomoya, each inside half of a heart.

I always thought it was an A and a T combined together. I dunno the shape of the letter always seemed to look like that to me.

It's definitely an A and T combined together -- his is actually a little more slanted towards a T, whereas hers is more of an A if you look carefully. Nagase actually has another hidden tattoo on his right wrist, which he always hides under a sweat band. No one knows what it is because he's never shown it except for once, accidentally -- but there wasnt ever a clear enough image to discern what it was.
