Nothing can compare to 2000-2001, in my opinion. The greatest years of J-pop, I think.

well ... don't remember much of 2005 [damn alzheimer] but hey ... it was a strong year for ayu ... Step you/is this Love? + Fairyland c/w Alterna + Heaven + [not that strong but still in 2005] Bold & Delicious/Pride

I'd like to think that's true in my case Unfortunately, I don't think it is. Haha!

2005 was definitely a strong year for Ayu. Better overall quality of singles compared to 2004, although Moments is one of those truly great Ayu songs

2005 is also the yera I official throw out wetsern music and changed over to J-Pop and it was a really exciting year for me....

the most memorable thing for me is Namie QoHP Album and teh W me W me single....althoug Koda started her 12 single thingie and of course some of ayus best singles....it was a great year

Yeah 2005 was a pretty damn good year. Seriously that year had some huge events: ayu's ARENA TOUR 2005 (obviously XD), Koda Kumi's rocket to success and AAA's debut It was also the year that I found ayu for the first time

yeah 2005 was great. i started listening to jpop in 2004 but i got immersed in 2005.
Ayu released her best string of singles that year, lots of great songs unlike in 2004. Moments Inspire Game and Carols are amazing, but they're only 4, and My Story I always considered part of 2004.
BoA my 2nd favortie artist released her Best album and her Korean album was great too! (and her last since forever ) Honestly the singles she releassed started her sdecline in Japan, but early 2005 was good for her, with the arena tour and the still fresh Quincy and Merikuri from 2004.
AI Otsuka -- Planetarium, nuff said. amazing song. the others were great too, but this was the song which elevated her status even more. (Cherish!!! Neko ni Fuusen!!! Biidama!!! that song with the long title and the yen numbers xp)
Mika nakashima was amazing in Nana and IMO Sakurairo Maukoro was her last greatest single as Mika nakashima. Glamorous sky was catchy too
Do As Infinity sadly broke up but at least 2005 was the year they proved for the last time how awesome they are!
Utada hikaru had a so-so year, though. but Passion was a good way to close the year.
My favorite Jpop ballad, konayuki was a 2005 release as well!
I think this was the last year when ORange Range released songs which I liked. Their success with Hana was still fresh then
Namie Amuro continued her upward streak! Queen of hip Pop was amazing, but 2007 shows even more promise for her!
and of course, the ascent of Koda Kumi... IMO after Koda Kumi's amazing best FT run and the early part of the 12 singles thing and when she announced best SS, that's when Jpop became a bit routine for me.

Î know what you try to say...J-Pop really became standart for me....the songs already leak so early and there is no problem to get everything and anything you want....
When I started it was hard to find anything... I had to fight for every Video and single and most of teh stuff was far away from HQ

2005 also began my love for Jpop as well haha^^ actually more late 2004 but 2005 was when I RELALY paid attention to it! And just like everyone said - all the artists released great stuff ayu, namie, mika, ai, kuu etc. I actually just miss 2005 as a whole.I can remember everything that happened that year to me!! good times

What was utterly great about 2005 was how everyone was experimenting and trying new things. Since it was a good year in terms of sales, a lot of the promotional material was pretty damn good and enjoyable. I loved Shimatani's "crossover" genre, Ami's strong comeback, Ai's exciting singles, Ayu's bolder direction and Kumi's sudden success. The NANA releases weren't that bad either. With the dwindling sales I doubt we'll get a year as great as 2005, which is a mighty shame.

Depends on who. Ai Otsuka and Ayu's music quality have improved.

2005 was an effing good year. I really wish I could've experienced it, but j-pop came at October 2006 for me. :[
