Interesting. I believe that in selfishness, she is referring to Ayu's desire to want to be with him, regardless of the type of love they share.

Why is she butting in? It's none of her business.

Actually, Wada is very close with the Johnny's boys. I am pretty sure her and Tomoya know each other well and she might even know Ayumi well because I have seem them on television shows together and they seem to get along. Wada is a very wise woman and she comments on everything. She says what she thinks and what others are afraid to say, so I say go Wada. You all take things way too seriously to react like that. For all you know, Wada could be right and you could be wrong. Like said above, nobody knows what actually happened.

Maybe she should not do it on public if she wants to express her opinion since I bet now a load of other people will want to comment on television and tabloids. Seems this public thing was just a way to create a lot of noise and even more chaos. In the end seems they just won't let go the break-up thing and keep on going on about it forever.

Well, I think that's the reason she has so many shows. She comments on EVERYBODY'S business, so you shouldn't think of it as a personal attack on Ayu. She said some not so nice things about Fujimoto Miki getting caught in a relationship and losing her job, about Tsuji Nozomi getting married, and she has said some really not so nice things about many others. It's her way of doing things. I understand what you are saying completely, but it's only been a few days since they announced it and ya know people are going to talk about it. I'm not trying to offend anyone of Ayumi's fans or anything here... In the end, it will be forgotten and something more interesting will pop up.

Okay, everyone needs to slow the hell down. The translation painted the article in a much worse light than it actually is.

The word translated here as "selfishness" is very, very different from the English word we use. It means something more like "wilfullness" and "free-spiritedness". There is also a huge cultural difference between what is selfish in Japan, and what is selfish in America. They use the word "wagamama" MUCH more than we use "selfish" -- it isn't as strong, and it isn't necessarily a bad thing.

What Wada Akiko really says is rather sympathetic, not disapproving. She actually says she feels a similar willfulness to that of Ayu. She shows disappointment, sure, but in the sense that she wishes that the two of them could have made it work, because she was really rooting for them. These are the pitying, romantic ramblings of an old woman. She is hardly a fascist.

And even if Akiko had made repraochful comments toward Ayu, so what? People really need to stop vehemently getting defensive over a celebrity they don't even know. Wada Akiko knows much more what's going on than anyone here ever will. For all we know, Ayu could be a bunny kicker. Chill out and deal.

Wow.. she really has nothing else to do than to comment about people? I imagined people will talk but it bugs me how they are making it so dramatic when both Ayu and Nagase seemed to end the relationship peacefully on a friendly note. In the end they both showed that they had no hard feelings over it and decided to move on.

Thanks for clarifying and explaning that. ^^

And I agree that probably Wada knows more about what's going on in the show business than any of us.
I don't really like people commenting on everything, but someone will do it anyway. And I prefer that she says it in public rather than behind someones back.

Well, that's different.

I'm sure that there were a lot of people disappointed in what happened, seeing as they were together for seven years. But people drift apart and that's the end of that. This all reminds me of the Hikaru x Kiriya deal.

Sorry guys, but I'm just not as outraged as so many of you appear to be. While I will always support Ayu, it's going to take her a while to get over this--it's only natural. Judging from her lyrics and the fact that she was with Nagase for seven years, I think it will be a long time until she falls in love again. I don't really see it as offensive when this lady says that Ayu might not have another boyfriend again . I certainly don't want it to be true but I can see it happening, actually. =\ She'll still date, but a serious boyfriend? Not for a long while, I don't think.

And I can't really comment on the selfishness part, but what evolusean said earlier makes sense.

*gets shot*

Of course I doubt she won't be dating someone seriously for a long time but eventually with time she will move on. She's still young and there will be time for a new guy in the future.

Yes, hopefully! ^_^ I just hope she won't take a page out of Gackt's book and never attempt a serious relationship again. But they are rather different people so yeah I don't know where I'm going with this.

As for the time frame...I don't really see her dating anyone in the public spotlight again, so maybe when she steps back from singing (not from music in general; I think she'll continue to write music for others and stuff) and performing she'll settle down? For some reason I've always seen Ayu as the type of person to get married in their late 30s or something.

Shes just trying to state her opinion on the subject, which is that Ayu didnt have time for Tomoya Nagase and while he was patient and tolerant of her career and all, in the end things did not work out because of it. At least thats how I interpret it.

I read that that lady is known for being brutally blunt and up front about things, so its not really that surprising that she might say something like that. It kinda would make sense too, if it was the actual reason for their break up.
