Is This True or Not?

I keep hearing that Namie Amuro is 1/4 Italian, but I've also heard that it was just a rumour started by avex.
Is there any merit to the claim that her mom was half-Italian? I think it's true, she does look a little different than most J-Pop stars, but then again
people say she's part Ryukyuan....

I always heard that too, and just figured, sure, why not. And yes, she is from Okinawa, who are a bit different physically from mainland Japanese. (In regards to your Ryuukyuu comment)

I think I saw a picture of Namie's mother once, and she REALLY didn't look "completely" Asian to me. It would make sense anyway for the Italian blood to be on her mother's side...well to me anyway.

i always thought that amuro was a kinda last name though (even if it came from her dad's side...)

It is true. Namie is 25% Italian. Though Namie has never identified herself Italian. Her mother's name is Emilo Taira. I suppose she is half Italian & half Japanese. But japanese people always say Namie looks like a Ryukyuan. Eyes and tan-skin. I have some pictures of Namie's mother. She doesn't look japanese...

^Yes she was. I think she was murdered by her brother? Or at least by a close male relative. (He was wacko) Namie almost quit working, but said that she would continue because she treasured the memories of her mother watching her on TV and saying how proud she was. (I have lots of anecdotes about Namie...she's one of my biggest celebrity heroes XD)

And now that I think about it, I've always thought that Namie's facial structure was considerably different from other Asians. (It seems more elongated than usual)

she was walking with her husband (namie's step-father), when her brother-in-law (namie's step-uncle?)came and ran them over. he then repeatedly hit them with a bat (i think?). while her step-father survived the ordeal, the brother-in-law commited suicide
namie reportedly didn't cry at her mother's funeral because she knew she succeeded in making her mother a granny before her death

Yea, Namie's features are really different. I think that's why she was so appealing when she was younger and still is. Japanese really love the exotic look. Look how far being 1/2 Japanese took Becky! She's famous for doing guest spots on TV shows

wow, i can't believe namie's mom passed away like that. i feel sorry for namie now. i remember reading one of parents died on wikipedia way back, but i didn't remember, lol. but now i know it was her mom.

anyway, i also read about namie being half italian. wasn't she kinda ganguro (or whatever sifow is considered as) too?

Isn't it? And it happened right around when she got married and had a child, that must hurt so badly. And people wonder why she seems so cold sometimes.
