New Single 「talkin' 2 myself」

ick i dont like it...i can just imagine the horrible engrish when she says the title in the song...btw, i still dont see why everyone wants CREA back...her compositions didnt really strike me as amazing. Sure I Am.. and RAINBOW were good, but the melodies dont really jump out at me. I really wish Naoto Suzuki would arrange for her again...he did some of the best arrangements.

Number one (and this should really be enough): abbreviating your pronunciation of the ng sound in its word-final position in English is widely considered trashy and uneducated. You know, as in "Why can't the English...?". The only thing trashier than pronouncing your ng sound as n is actually writing it out phonetically as n'.

Number two: this type of spelling is widely considered very childish, as adults should know better and have more class. Ayu is 28 years old.

Number three: in the music industry of the English-speaking world, to use such stylistic spelling without any sort of intellectual reasoning or pun is a sure-fire sign of management tampering. In other words, old men in suits look at a song title, and decide to change it to something more "cool" in order to market it more directly toward the most commercial audience (namely young adults, teenagers, and children). Among artists, this practice is discouraged and looked down upon, because it manipulates their music's artistic integrity. Often, artists whose titles are spelled stylistically for no reason are condemned as "sell-outs".

Of course, Ayu is not from the English-speaking world, and her stylistic spelling doesn't mean a damned thing to the Japanese population. But from an English-speaking perspective, and also from the perspective of a person in the music business, "talkin' 2 myself" shows very, very, very poor taste level.

Since all that we know now is the title.. perhaps some Ayu blogs / magazine scans will tell us more?

It's not like Ayu to simply do something without a reason, and I think that as time passes, we'll probably know more [like why she titled it, and so on.] I don't think that she did it to appear trashy or uneducated, but to try and abbreviate it in some way. Look at Yuna Ito who is a native English speaker and Utada Hikaru. They had "losin" and "Keep Tryin'" but you don't see many people panicking about that (or not.) I just find that since Ayu has a larger fanbase with a "quick to flame" personality, there's more uproar about that and the use of a number.

I think we should just wait it out, seeing as how my name's WOMEN, fairyland, STEP you, and It was had similar reactions...

I agree, ayumi usually connectz everything in one way or another (or fans connect it for her =P). Personally I think that this is better than the engrish horror that sometimes is apparant in japanese songs, or, titles like "Are you wake up?" from a person who made an interview 50% in english.

I personally like this title, it sounds interesting. "decision" however, sounds dull, because it's yet another one-word title.

All I'm hoping is that H/\L hasn't arranged ANY of the songs on this single. I'm so tired of their arrangements, and they've been sounding the same since fairyland.

We're getting a chaku uta preview before the CM, so.. yeah. :\

So it means that the studio version is coming out before the CM version, I guess.
