It definitely looks like this is her DEBUT album, i wiki-ed her, googled her, (with no results) and even clicked on her name @ YesAsia and only that album could be found xD!

The next thing you know her next album would be a rip-off of Ayu's (miss)understood

OMG, I can't believe it. RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS PLAGIATED THE BEATLES ABBEY ROAD ALBUM COVER! That's such an horrid and disgusting thing! Why haven't they been SUED yet? And even Paul Mc Cartney plagiated his own band, shameful paul, you should burn in hell because The Abbey Road was an immaculate album cover and anything that esquisitely looks like it has got to be a RIP OFF. There's no other possibility. It can't be anything else. It can and only can be a rip off.

*clears throat*Sorry, but that's clearly a parody cover and I rest my case. People overreact too quickly to anything.

Thats like the most famous cover in the world, so it's obviously parodies. The MY STORY is hardly known all over China, and it kinda looks serious in a really creepy way.

If ayu is hardly known throughout china, what was the reason of her asian tour? I don't think ayu is a total stranger in china..prove is, if that singer made a parody of her cover (or ripped off for those who still believe it's a rip off) is because people there know who ayu is. If she had been an american artist, since JPOP is not really much known around US, then I'd shut up, but ayu is definitely known around china. Also the fact MY STORY might not be WIDELY known around china still isn't a proof that that thing is a rip off, so...

And, btw, that cover is anything but serious. The hair is a collage, the colors are twisted. There's nothing "serious" about that cover. The only thing serious about it is people freaking out when they look at it and all they can think of is that that is a rip off.

That would make a lot more sense if the album itself were an Ayu parody album.

I don't know...maybe it's a parody or a satire or something. I doubt this singer is that clueless as to rip off the whole thing (and in such poor fashion too).

That's what I was thinking. Something about this seems strangely in earnest, which is why I was taken aback when I saw the cover.

Then again, I haven't heard the songs (I really want to, though).

you took the words right out of my mouth. Isn't it supposed to be parody? even if the album doesn't have anything to do with covers of ayumi songs, doesn't really mean it isn't.

Well if she's going to try and carve her image out of mocking a more popular star, one would think she (or her management...) would have the intelligence to shape the songs off of it as well. Sort of like a gimmick. If she's serious about her own career, well--that's just silly.

These very-same feelings reflect onto the Red Hot Chili Peppers' album. Sure, both album covers are recognizable images, but to me it comes off as nothing more than a ploy to get attention by using a more popular artist's/bands' image. Pathetic.

Exactly, a parody cover doesn't necessarily need that the songs have also to be a parody. The person who produced the cover decided to use parody as a way to call attention of those who look at it. That's what happened in the Red Hot Chili Peppers case. C'mon, I doubt anybody would even be discussing about this artist if she had debutted with some regular album cover picture.

what's the problem of using image to call attention? That's what album covers should do. The album case is resting there at the store awaiting for a potential buyer to grab it. If the cover is plain it can go unnoticed. There's nothing pathetic about making a parody imo. parody is sort of an artistical resource specially if you use it well. The Beatles Sgt Pepper's album has got to be one of the most parodized (is that a word?) album covers (c'mon we have to agree The Beatles did have some AMAZING album covers). When you make a parody cover the content doesn't necessarily have to be a pasrody of the actual artists. That doesn't really demand intelligence at all in order to guess.

The problem is that I personally think it's silly. If she's attempting to make herself known as her own image, her own artist, why do a parody cover? Especially if it's her first effort. It's just my opinion, though. I'm not saying it's set into stone.

It's not because I think ayu is the almighty God and all she does is right, and everybody else are copiers. But there is a difference between parody and copy. If she's doing it for attention, why didn't she copy a chinese artist?

And well yea, if this is her first release, it just shows that her music can't speak for her, so she needs a publicity stunt. Hmm.

Why didn't Red Hot Chili Peppers copy a "californian" (US) band album cover instead then? That rule makes no sense. You can parodize whoever you want. And it's not like ayu is a complete stranger in china. She clearly isn't or else there wouldn't be so many chinese tabloids talking about her at all. Ayu is one of the most popular artists in asia. That's already enough reason why.

That's not a matter. Who cares if she's an extremely unknown artist or not, or if she's pulling tricks in order to promote her album. She definitely managed to get some attention with that, and I believe much more than if she had released a plain cover. not all artists in the world have to follow a diviaish style of building up their careers. Not all people who release a cd want to become an "ayumi hamasaki" blah blah For instance, comedians can make albums, even if they become a complete failure. Maybe this artist has other jobs and do other things for as living, heck who knows, we have no info on her career at all.
