When I was in Japan, the major music stores often had tables set up outside the store like that when a hot new release came out. That kind of promotion isn't special or exclusive to Ayu--I saw similar setups for Namie's album PLAY.

Yeah, I've seen Namie's tables too, it's just that I was questioning if the promotion is as "massive" as some of the people here have said it is.
