People in Japan, KNOW how the release system works. Even people in different countries online, who have never been to Japan knew it would come out with all the December 26th releases, which meant it will be in stores on Xmas day, as they get released a day earlier than the official date.

Christmas day is not a national holiday, all the shops are open. Even if some people have a special meal, it does not stop them going out and shopping.

I don't know why people are so surprised by the first day sales. She only released 2 singles, the combined total of which was what, 260k? just a little over? That's absurd for Ayu standards. If her singles don't sell, her album won't either.

And the reason I believe she won't get the weekly #1, is because Ayumi is extremely front-loaded. After her first week, her sales plummet. If it was just one week, she might just get it, but as it's 2 weeks, EXILE and kobokuru have a significant chance to overtake. Not only do they have the extra days advantage over GUILTY, they are also more consistent sales. EXILE's old albums have all risen up in the charts due to their surge in popularity lately, and need I remind anyone about the beast that is ALL SINGLES BEST?
Exactly. Ayu albums are being released before the official release date for years, even in her peak, and her first week were always big, so that's a lame excuse for the bad sales. Plus, Japan isn't a religious country and Christmas is a day for you to go out with your lover and get gifts for your boyfriend and maybe your parents. It isn't a big national holiday like in the rest of the world, the stores are still open and people go on with their lifes.

Oh, and one more thing: IF the sales on the "official" release dates are higher it's not because it was the advertised release date (everyone in Japan knows the album is released a few days before. This has been happening since Ayu released her first album so stop with this stupid and annoying excuse) but because it's the day of the HUGE sales, when everybody go shopping.

I just feel the need to point out something: just because Ayu say she is totally satisfied with her album and think it's her best one, doesn't mean she really feels that way. Geez, she's PROMOTING the album, that's what she is SUPPOSED to say, what every single artist is supposed to say. It's not like she's going to admit it she find the album *****ty compared to her last one or something...

Mmm... did you forget the part of her career where everything she released flopped badly, she had a nervous breakdown, etc?

No, the reason is because Japanese is a language that won't get them, the artists, very far beyond Asia.

ayu said she liked the album not that it's her best, and I think she said the truth or it would sound crappy, which is really far from it.

One thing: everyone who bought the album and isn't in Japan, your order WON'T COUNT on the Oricon charts. Oricon only tracks sales in Japan which means you have to buy a copy in Japan or have your album delivered by some online store to an address in Japan. You'll be helping Ayu, of course, but not her position in Oricon.

I'm just saying it's quite naive to think she would say anything that isn't "I loved this album"

Yeah but common sense says that naturally she wouldn't make an album she won't like... She might not like this one the best but definitly she likes/liked them all when she did them.

Not really. She ALWAYS release an album a year and sometimes it's not possible to do something you're 100% satisfied in such a short period. I mean, lots and lots of the (m)u songs were covers, etc.

ayu said she likes that sweetbox album so she took some compositions, they don't count as covers 'cause the lyrics were written by ayu, and the reason ayu took the compositions it's because she liked them.

I think someone has emailed cdjapan a long time ago, and yes the sales from cdjapan do count to the oricon chart.

I still don't believe they do. I mean, they CAN count IF your delivering address is in Japan but the WHOLE point of Oricon is to track sales IN Japan. Like Billboard only tracks sales in the US, even if sites like Amazon sell to other countries.

I guess what people do not realize is that Ayu is a human being not perfect. I do not think she can produce an album she think it's perfect every year, but it's what AVEX expects of her, it's probably a contractual obligation. One year is a very short time to produce, believe it or not.

Of course she's not perfect and I doubt she herself think that her albums are perfrect but I do know she likes any of them (not at best or perfect rate but she likes them), or else she wouldn't do them. I think she's just being satsfied saying I like this album a lot and such rather than let's promote and say I like it like everytime.

I read all of your comments and I COULD tell you were being sarcastic! Relax Kumiko fans, no one here is bashing Kumiko nor are we talking that much about her. Everyone is too worried about her sells and stuff to even think of her.

Exactly. Why would you sell something that you don't like? Ayumi doesn't really care for her sells...not at all. I quote, "Music is my life! My life is my music!" That was said by Ayumi. Even if Ayumi doesn't sell well, her music will still be heard by millions of people and she still will be loved. Ayumi has nothing else to prove with sells.....she has done her part to becoming a legend in Japan.....even if it wasn't intentional.

It's not like you haven't thought of you fave asian artist either. So stop frontin'! I think Hikki's and BoA's 'music' are perfect. Everything they release are perfect to my ears and I know that they make BIG mistakes...especially Hikki!

It's hard to say what AVEX wants for her but IMO, AVEX doesn't care if she likes it or not. They just want to sell it to get that money!

Why don't you tell that to Hikki, BoA, and Kumiko. Hikki is releasing two albums next year. She hasn't done that since 2004. BoA and Kumiko released a BEST album and studio album all in one year.
