Ayu-Mi-X 6 : gold & Silver !!!

On one hand I am extremely excited that these releases are happening. I am especially looking forward to the Silver version.

On the other hand, most of the previous ayu-mi-x compilations were 50% or more bad/mediocre mixes, with only a few gems. In my opinion, ayu-mi-x 5 was the best put together, though, so I hope ayu-mi-x 6 takes a page out of that book.

On my third hand, which I am trying to grow as I type, I can't help but feel that this is a desperate attempt to quickly divert attention from GUILTY for its sub-par performance, recover some sales figures, and fuel a massive publicity push to get Ayu's name and face plastered everywhere again like in her hey-day with hopes of building a new fanbase.

^ I don't quite agree. Some of these mixes have been popping up or the announcement of them at least since the Summer. Also, someone else had mentioned that in order to get remixes from big artists (like Armand van Helden) you need to be put on a waiting list - you don't just get that mix done in a matter of weeks.

I can't agree more. Of the 5 ayu-mi-x albums, the fifth was the best, yet it's hugely neglected. The remixes were so much more innovative, say Huge's Free & Easy remix, Ram Rider's Real me remix, and especially the Close to you remix, both HANABI remixes, and the Voyage remix as the last track (done by 83Key or sth like that).

They may not be done by famous remixers, but at least these 'amateurs' were striving for something original, not just the typical house remix. The result is that they're less suitable for dancing to in discoes, but as pure music, they are very inspiring and enjoyable.

i just noticed....the tracklists are in order of when the song was released...i.e. Greatful Days, 2003 to talkin' 2 myself, 2007...i didnt feel like looking through 13 pages so i don't know if anyone else has noticed this...

It seems like it could be that way, but whether or not GUILTY performed well, I think these were going to come out regardless of that. :/

I mean, they already had PARA ONE working on Greatful days, and they also had the glitter remix done a few months ago, so I suspect it was planned for a 10th anniversary release. Shinichi Osawa's post about Startin' was also kinda like.. "These are the works that I have worked on for release in the year 2008" or something like that..

If they were so concerned about sales, wouldn't they have done this post-Secret insread? :/

By the way, it looks like they gathered mainly techno / electronic / drum n' bass remixers for this project.. O_o

I think your third had has the right idea. But hey...I don't have a problem with good promotion tactics. How do you think I started buying Koda Kumi's albums? LOL

I doubt there'll be a huge campaign for this release. maybe a TV-cm or a billboard or two, but certainly nothing like for an original album of hers ...

she should do another remix PV...the M "above and beyond" remix PV is so cool but yeah, there will no doubt be billboards (which is NOT normal for remix albums...its really just cuz it's ayu that i assume there will be billboards haha) and hopefully a cool CM her remix CMs were always pretty cool

I don't know why but yup, I'm guessing it'll look like that. Just a hunch.

She's going to be painted GOLD in the GOLD version, and SILVER in the SILVER version.
