At first I thought this was a cute idea, but I don't really think I could deal with it. I get cravings to hear specific songs every once in a while and then I start listening to that, so I would need a week without craving songs other than Ayu in order to do this, and frankly, I don't think that is possible

This is easier said than done lol.
I'm guessing that newer fans will find this easier.
For old fans like me....it is very difficult...
Unless I listen to her older songs.
Now THAT might be possible.
Her newer songs just don't pull me in as much as before. Even though they are still brilliant...

I would but I can't, my teacher history teacher plays different type of music at the beginning of every class when he take roll and w/e else teacher do before the start class because he feel that we should be open to a wide genre of music, and technically he leaves it on most of time except when he lecture, which isn't often since we do a lot of book work, I don't think i can convince him to play Ayu's songs while in that class for a week.( My teacher kind of a whack job so... -_-').

Impossible to do. Last week I think it was almost 80% Ayu out of all songs I listened to. And I don't think it can go much higher than that! Even if I really tried it would fail anyway, because I always watch either Music Station, CDTV or other Japanese music tv show at least once every week.

There are a lot of other good music too ^^

LOL!!

I do this every week! and have done so for about 5 years (though I've been a fan for about 7)!! It's so easy for me! I can't get enough of her. I'm not even interested in any other bands or singers. I've got all I need with Ayu.

my friend said to me a long time ago, "you should listen to hikki", and I was like "nah, not interested". They said, "she's really good!", and I said "whatever, don't care". I have still never heard a hikki song....

(or any other j pop artist for that matter)

I don't listen to western music anymore either, I never listen to radio, or watch music channels.

If I'm at home: Ayu
If I'm driving: Ayu
If I'm at work: Ayu

Seriously.

She has done enough songs in so many different moods and styles that they're is something for every occasion. I just can't get bored. I've got playlists for Ayu Rock, Ayu Upbeat, Ayu Unsung, Ayu Classics, etc. and then some random mixes of songs spanning different lengths of her career that I think go well together, and some just a complete mix of songs that I just love, and then of course her albums. That is a lot of playlists and a lot of playing time. If I fancy a change of style, I'll just pick one I haven't heard for a while ( "a while" perhaps being a few days or a week). I just go round and round.

And I haven't got bored yet.

I know a lot of you will think I'm being sad, or missing out, but I don't care. I love Ayu's music, I love Ayu, She's all I need.

I maybe could do well listening to Ayu's music only, but because of my hobby I can't take a part in this 100% Ayu year thing. (trying to find an excuse)

If it was Ayu who personally asks me to do this I would do it.

I actually tried to do this before. I put her on shuffle and I wanted to see how many days of music I had. I was going bonkers thinking: OMG I HAVE to listen to (insert song) but I couldn't cause Ayu was on. (I tried not to skip some songs but I couldn't help myself XD) I did that. I could do it again though, but listening to Her beginning stuff and the stuff she has now isn't going to make me like her new stuff any more. It might make me not even like it anymore because I'm comparing them too much.

@Jon: you're right I do think that is really sad, and I do think you are missing out. I have half the mind to force you to listen HIKKI, L style. (those who have watched Death Note ep. 15 and up know what I mean)

Lol I've been doing that since last friday XD Even right now I'm listening to Ayu remixes.... (And Then Voice Spectral Mix ) I must say though that if you want to go crazy: listen to immature CLUB BAHIA Mix for a couple times. I'm pretty sure you can't think clearly after that.

I doubt anyone could do that (listen only to Ayu for a week) except if you lock yourself inside your house and never leave before the time's up. >__> Can't watch the TV either, since there's all the "10 o'clock news" music etc.

I can do it 100%
I mean,I listen to Ayu every week 92% or so...

I could even listen Ayu for whole month and even more, even if there are other artists I love and especially Yuna Ito's releasing her new album, and I started to listen to Hikki too.
There's also Namie Amuro,Ai Otsuka,Tsukiko Amano,Chihiro Onitsuka,Nakashima Mika and many more...

Okay,so for people who will do it,
do we need to write down each song we are listening to or what?
I mean what do we do (except for listening Ayu)?

Not even a problem for me.

I've actually tried listening to other J-Pop artists exclusively and while I do enjoy some of the songs, as a whole I don't find these songs as meaningful or enjoyable to me as Ayu's music. Ayu's entire discography is a masterpiece IMO really. I always feel happy when I hear an Ayu song. Not saying there aren't some less-than-perfect tracks, but every song speaks to me on some level. I can't help but seeing other artists songs as just fluff, or I'll only enjoy a handful of songs from an artist (such as Mika Nakashima) and the rest is just okay, but nothing really special.
