Like truhappiness said, the guy who shot the A BEST II covers and the alterna PV shot the Mirrorcle World PV -- all three have flashy eyelashes. She didn't copy anybody.

Idealist: Amazing interpretation, watching it over again it doesn't seem as bland as it first appears.

I gave the PV another chance and watched it again. Actually it's not that bad at all. And I think the newbie director did a pretty good job.

I think Ayu is an agent. The men in black have a listening device and a radio transmitioner, so they're listening in on her. Agent Ayu, Hamasaki Ayu is crossing the bridge calmly until she releases she's being followed. Time to take a hike.

Then we get to the red dress part. She's teasing them, because she knows she's better than them and no matter what they cannot catch her. You know, the handkerchief thing. Usually a lady would drop her handkerchief because she wanted the man she admired to pick it up and return it to her, that would give him a reason to start a conversation with her. Ayu definitely doesn't admire those guys, it's just a tease. I'm beautiful, I'm strong, and you can never have me.

She's taking a call in the phone booth, to her co-buddy. And gets suddenly surrounded by mib. With her movements and expressions she's saying: I'm not afraid you, I'm strong and I'm taking the call anyway. We see a car appear. Obviously the men are afraid of its driver cause they pull back. Ayu tosses her head, before entering the car. It's like saying "I showed ya, didn't I?"

The different Ayus definitely represent something. I got a Matrix-like vibe. My boyfriend, who posts under the name "Idealist" here, has a very fascinating analysis about the plot, which he is just about to post himself.

Whereas something like JEWEL was just eye candy, this is eye candy, and it's interesting. One thing we discovered was the lingerie Ayu was looking at herself in a mirror! (Look closely -- there is a frame around this scene.)
LOl yea, its definitely not her worst sheesh...Daybreak was totally...erhmm...nothingness...

now u said it, i understand the PV. but how i wished that the guys are a bit more pro active to bring out the vulnerable side of ayu.

at first i like the idea of the drum beats going along with the footsteps of ayu. i also liked the way ayu ran with small steps with the red dress on. so cute!!

I think the people who hates it is because they didnt noe what the PV was talking about. i initially hate it but understood the underlying story. i wish ayu could tease the men more and the men could show more effort in catching ayu.

i also dont understand what does the sexy ayu in lingerie represent. the coat in the beginning, the red big dress, the white gown all meant something (i think) but what about the lingerie ayu that only sang the "wow wow yea yea" portion of the song?

i would give the PV a 6/10 cos i got this feeling that "they all went to paris jus to film this?"

LOl now that I look back at the comments, many ppl hated the PV LOL

I dunno...I guess I'm weird.

I LOVE when ayu goes all optimistic, badass, powerful, arrogant, divaish, kicking everybody's butts, feeling like she's the best **** you can ever find in this world, sexy, cockroach crusher, spitting and stepping over all other faces in her PVs! It gives me such a good energy! That's why I also loved the so hated "(don't) Leave me alone"!

hmm.. i think the director idea abit.. lousy ;S
u see.. the story plot is so confusing .. ( i dun understand a single thing at all.. so damn ) and .. other than looking gorgeous and extremely SEXY, i think there's no other good point in this MV.. i mean.. it SUCKS D:
yeah, ayu looks very very pretty in those fancy dress ( esp the big big red dress ), but somehow i think ayu should dance in the chorus part ( fast part ) and perform something instead of like .. taking shoots of herself? ...
seriously, if i gonna rate, i gonna rate 3/10 @_@"

I Just enjoy this PV, that's all.
I will agree that she should use a different PV director from now on just to make different stuff!

I think, that PV is boring. I don't really like it.
The Scene, when Ayu is walking around in the Trenchcoat and when she is in that Glass-Phone-Box.. she make a strange face. Her expression looks not natural. Looks like, she try to acting. Ah.. I have no idea, who to explain it really. But... she has a strange expression, I think.
And.. she really can not walk very good on that shoes!
For me.. the PV is really boring. So.. I don't really like it.

I think Ayu should never film a PV in foreign locations again, judging by her previous PVs. (maybe not fairyland, since it had a crap load of money put into it)

I mean B&D was terrible, and now this was pretty but weird. XD

I just realized a moment ago that the registration plate of that car in the end of the pv is "13 CRY 91" or something like that (sorry if that's been mentioned already but I'm too tired to read 11 pages). I wonder if that has a meaning too?

Wow, you're rude.
I stated after that, that people have different definitions of skanky.
Apparently ours don't match up.
Calling someone "close minded" is very insulting.
now maybe i'm more "conservative" but i'm not "close minded" or I wouldn't be an Ayu fan.

Well actually I wasn't just basing my "close minded" comment on that one post of yours alone. I believe you once said "my heart aches for the people of Japan" because they were not exposed to Jesus (although they are). So based on multiple posts, I decided that I think you are indeed close minded. But this is getting off topic.

And people's definitions of close minded may apparently differ as well. I believe that someone could easily be a fan of Ayu's and be close minded, so I fail to see how that is related. Being open minded in one way (accepting Japanese music) is far different from being open minded in a political or more general sense. Call my statement insulting, but I believe that you were being insulting yourself when you said each of those comments.
