deciphering the meaning behind moments "Moments"

This song is rather peculiar and vague. As i listened to it, i really wondered what it said. So then i found the lyrics:

here there is a motif that alot of Ayu songs have: dreams.
the person who is being referred to in the stanzas had a dream that was seized , and it's clear, but what does "It was the end of your dream,
and the start of everything" actually mean? Aside from this loss talked about in the verses, the chorus says something about protecting someone fiercely, even if it ends her life. But why? Why did/does she care so much about a simple dream or the fears that that "other" person has? I simply don't understand...

I'm not sure either, but I guess that "the beginning of everything" refers to the reality. For example: One lives in a (seemingly) happy relationship, so happy that it seems like a dream. Then one day the happiness and love fades away, and you become aware of the reality and what comes with it then (pain, despair).

To understand the lyrics it is important to know that it's based on kachoufuugetsu, which stands for the beauty of the nature in Japan. I think it portrays a perfect scenery. The word is written by the kanji for "flower", "bird", "wind" and "moon". You will find that quite often in Japanese art.
It was also used in the "part of Me" PV. With blossoms falling from the tree and I think there was a scene where birds flew away from a tree.

And as to the self-sacrifice: ayu used that thought in other songs, too. Like "Endless sorrow" or "BLUE BIRD". I think it just stands for protecting someone or something no matter what, which shows how important that person or thing most be for someone.

Those lyrics are really vague. Specially since I'm not sure whom she refers to in this song. I don't think I've been a help... Sorry!

I think the song will refer to a friend because when i read the lyrics and listen to it the whole song givs a sence of wanting to help a person who really need it like "I would fly to you, And offer my wing, To your wounded back" and talking about some kind of trauma someone has gone through thats why i feel its more so for a friend and a trouble that the specific friend has gone through especially this bit "How was the scenery you saw, When you were pushed into an abyss of despair". Though some too also refers to maybe you hurt my feeling kind of thing but i understand they way you feel so i'll leave it alone "


Basically in a nut shell. I feel its someone going through a trauma, is and is distraught and they said things which shouldn't and this song is aimed to like like such an aid to help that person.

As its so vague and simple i think its meant to be like that as though life too is that simple and even the simplest things can matter and help a person get through the trauma. Thats why thi is my favourite nsong. The complete simplicity of it and they way she speaks through the song is magnificant.

^ I don't recall who wrote this or whatever. But I saved this writing that someone deciphered the moments PV. (If not directly translated from the directors words). This seems pretty accurate.

*In this PV you might realize that the make-up on the white dress Ayumi's face a little weird because the make-up artist doing this to show Ayumi be crying on the bed for sometime and a little pale.

The opening of this PV you could see Ayumi is sleeping on her bed. While sleeping there is some flash of herself lying in a pool of blood of a dark place and the flower doll's room. When she had opened her eyes the door is opened for her which lure her out to see what's out there. She got up from her bed and lighted up a torch to guide her through the darkness of her house. Ayumi is doing this because she's in a darkness that she couldn't depend on herself much.

After lighted up the torch she walked out of her room to check what's going wrong. While walking there is some flash back where she's sleeping in her bed. I guess you had thought of it. She's actually dreaming. Back to where we were, hlaf way through the walking Ayumi stoped and stare at the door. Those kids that will appear later on in this PV should be sleeping in this room or making some noise from this room that used to be, but it didn't. Let's put it this way that all those little kids represent a Ayumi's lover. She knew that they're not here and kept on looking for them. Then she pass by another door which had bird singing sound coming out and she could feel it's not them. As you know if you truly love someone for very long and deep you could feel the presense of that person. She could sense that herself in danger too, but she thought if she didn't open that door which had the sound of birds singing. She could run away from it. That's why she wrote " Your naked heart is wandering, having nowhere to go. Your surrounding growing sharp thorns around for fear of being touched. "

You must be wondering why didn't she open and couldn't sense other doors that she had walked pass. This is because Ayumi place her love before anything else and even herself. She's getting near to a door which she felt the presense of her lover which is those little naughty kids. In this room showing those little kids playing with dolls and a doll's room which looked like the room that Ayumi is sleeping in the opening. Those little kids also got surround by many beautiful flowers. Those flowers is actually Ayumi herself. In the lyric of " Moments " Ayumi wrote " If my life transient like a flower. I would be a full bloom by your side and after watching your smile. I would fall alone, just quietly. " Those little kids that's playing around with dolls had torn one of the dolls body apart. This is also mean that Ayumi is the dolls too. Let's put it this way that i'm your doll and you could whatever you want to me and i would be glad to do whatever you want as long as you'll treasure me, but the wrost nightmare is that you'll destroy me and left me behide when you're tired of me. Those kids suddenly turn into big wood dolls. That meaning no matter how a good-looking a person could they're just builded up of bones. Instead of showing bones they turn it into big wood dolls.

The doll is spoiled and the fun of those little kids had came to an end and they run out of the room without finding someway to fix back the doll and started looking for something new and fun to play with till they're tired of it. This show that how human sometime play with love. Starting of it you'll learn to treasure that someone and spent money and love and time on that person, but when you're tired of that person you'll pelt that person away without caring how that person truly felt. Those little kids had found Ayumi's bedroom and they started to play with it. As you can see Ayumi is lying in a pool of blood in a dark place. I had realized that many people had been wondering what's that liquid thing. Is it oil? Or is it blood? Well... It's actually both. We had choosen to use black oil mixed with a little crimson color to make it look a little like blood. They're doing this because they fear that this PV will get violent rating. Ayumi always believed that Angel's wings is made of human hope, wish and dream. Those little kids that torn the doll's body apart like they had tear off Ayumi's wings.That's also why she wrote " The broken pieces of your dream sticks on to my chest. Leaving the pain that i'll never forget. " After those little kids is tired of playing in Ayumi's bedroom they simply leave and Ayumi is suffering in her own agony alone and the mess they left behide...

So uh....i hope that helped. It's pretty much saying that Ayu wants to try to be the person she can be even for a small amount of time, so that this person will allow himself to love again. I could get into the metaphors deeply if ya like. I like doing this stuff with Ayu lyrics, since i'm a writer i find it fun and good for my own writing. I dont' think this song is vague, you just have to break it down. But i also think, that this is how i interpret it. as writers, the message can mean something different to each member of the audience. THe same story still applies, but what one gets out of it can be diff/

EDIT: i think it's titled that because Ayu is saying that the time were they actually could dream and live with love was so short, and that even if she were to help him through protection for a moment, she'd be happy
