Wow, I had no idea that POL's PV director was the guy who did Wait & See and Addicted to You!:

“Prisoner Of Love” PV Director: Takeishi Wataru

For those who have received a copy of Utada’s latest single, “Prisoner Of Love,” it’s interesting to note that the director for the music video is Takeishi Wataru, the same director who created many of Utada’s earlier works, including “Addicted To You,” “Wait & See ~risk~,” and “For You.” He is a staple to many Japanese artists, including Hamasaki Ayumi, Porno Graffiti, and Dreams Come True.

It seems that it might do worse than HEART STATION/Stay Gold >_<

ick but it's expected since POL's a recut single from HS after all but at least down the line , HS/SG will not end up as Utada's worst selling single

I mean for Ken Hirai's case , he released Itsuka Hanareru Hi ga Kite mo from FAKIN' POP . Itsuka Hanareru Hi ga Kite mo tanked really badly in terms of sales & charting wise but it did good for FAKIN' POP .

The album hovered in the Top20 in the album chart for the past 2 months before dropping to no.27 yesterday for the week

Judging from the ringtone downloads, I dun expect PoL will be big in physical sales. Being in no. 3 when ai-chan's ROCKET SNEAKER (no. 2) was only about 850 (index) higher than her, dun you think PoL is actually gifted? You have to consider that the johnny boys open big but have a bad leg in terms of sales, and ai-chan a totally new double A single...
(actually I feel really sad for ai-chan.. a new (2A) single with less than 11000 copies sold on the first day, that is extremely bad for a popular artist, and I guess her popularity declines so much...)

And I can't believe that... HEART STATION this week sales is higher than last week?? Now I'm confident that it will break 950K eventually ... still not sure about the million mark..

And I'm surprised that PoL video is directed by the same person who directed ATY + risku... I wish he would come up with a better storyboard for PoL. Geez this is depressing... a boring pv with a storyboard vs. a not-too-boring pv with no plot at all..

Tbh, I didn't expect to sell in the 100k area. I at least hope it sells in the 50k+ area by the end of the week. Last Friends hadn't aired yet so we hadn't seen how it will sell after it airs. IMOT, PoL is doing great. She's not to far behind Ai and she may even overtake her to be in the #2 position at the end of the week. I agree with u on the dl part bluegie. PoL has been on sale for a while now, so the Physical sales aren't surprising. It was stupid on EMI's part to release the Quiet Version. PoL might have had a bigger 1st day if they haven't done that.

As for HS, I'm expecting to sell at the 910k-930k mark. I'm definitely not seeing a million for this album. It's selling to low weekly plus LA is about to end soon. This week she'll prolly sell another 20k before dropping out of the 20k area.

Wow, the guy who did W&S and ATY did PoL. Those are two of fave Hikki PVs. I have more the PV than ever before now. It's nice that they are working with each other again. I hope he directors her next video and I hope that Hikki works with the guy who directed CYKAS. I luvs that PV.

I think No. 3 is absolutely OK. More than 1.5 Million People in japan have bought the Song online so why they should buy her Single for 1500 Yen again?

Recently I've decided Heart Station isn't as monotonous and mediocre as I initially took it to be. Take 5 is among her top 5 songs ever, and maybe the most moving. The lyrics are great - sad, yet optimistic and hopeful at the same time and match with the music perfectly. Celebrate is a nice, feel-good, laid-back track, and even Boku wa Kuma has its appeal. The ballads kind of bring down the record for me - though alot of people like them and I guess they're nice enough, ballads just aren't something I feel an urge to listen to ever. Still, a solid album and I can't wait to see what she puts out next Deserves to sell a million.

The 1,500,000 is divided between ringtone, chorus-ringtone, melody ringtone, Prisoner Of Love songs itself, or just its chorus.
Not every person of this number (or maybe even most) downloaded the full song.

I don't agree with you this time . UB's sales was ~6000 copies (and less after) per week since week 9 (ranking no. 32 weekly at that point), and the total sales on week 9 was 851,044 copies. Right now HS's week 9 sales is 25,138 copies, with total sales 867,054 copies. If UB could manage to sell around 910K copies in the end, it's obvious that HS should be able to get over 950K at least.

I DEARLY hope HEART STATION will hit a million. Celebrate is such a fun and relaxing song that it should be heavily promoted during the summer, maybe along with Fight The Blues. I don't know if Utada has any future tie-ins that could help album sales, but I'm still praying for a million.

Prisoner of Love has GOT to be one of her worst PVs (or one of the worst PVs in general).

I was expecting something dark, dramatic, or something to do with the song.

Instead, I had to sit through 4 minutes of her typing on her computer, and pouting in her hoodie.
