ROFL xD! I guess it's just our preference, but I love Kumi too .

As for me, I have to agree about the whole unexciting PVs and covers (although I did enjoy "Together when..." and "Marionette"). They're just ugh...When I first see them I'm like oh that's not too bad, but then later when I look back at them again, I'm like . Those are the only two things I can think of though..............

Like honestly, some of the concepts have been kinda strange. "Ayu in NY from B&D/Pride", "wet Ayu in glitter"..

The only thing I think that has been reminiscent of past covers and such is Together When... minus the text.

Well I did think B&D/Pride was kinda random but I enjoyed the single and Ayu did something really different which I liked. I really started to think this around Secret. JEWEL should have been released as a single.

I fear that the same thing will happen with her latest album. I don't know how she has enough time to complete one with her huge touring schedule...and I would be surprised if Ayu didn't release another album by the end of the year. Don't rush your self Ayu! I actually wouldn't mind if a mini album was released instead.

I agree. Everything's always either on New Year's or somewhere close to Christmas. What I wish for is a release somewhere around September, like "Duty."

The only thing I have to argue about with repetitive lyrics and a usual/cliche message in her songs is that, kind of like what truehappiness (and even other members in the past have) said, she's been around for ten years. She's bound to repeat something. All artists do. In a nutshell: Her "repetitive" lyrics don't bother me.

I think the reason we have glamorous shots, fashion magazine styled photobooks, and even ideas that seem like they weren't thought out (whether cover art or not) is that her career is not as high or where it used to be in the past. She still has tons of supporters, but people move on and either grow tired of her or start listening to new artists. I don't think she and her staff are shrugging things of like they don't care, but I think they're getting more around of the ideas of releasing something everyone might enjoy, not just the Ayu fans. Do you know what I'm trying to say? This is all very hard for me to explain while trying to not sound like a basher or someone who's losing interest in Ayu.

Anyway!

The only thing I don't like about Ayu (along with what Coelacanth said about a regular release date for albums) is her overuse of incorrect vibrato. What she does with her voice to create the vibrato effect is, well, completely incorrect! Yes, plenty of singers and performers create the effect by moving their mouths, but hers is slow and forced rather than like the final vibration of a bell. I just can't stand it.

But ok. I'd say at times her vibrato gets out of control and that she uses a ton of make up when she actually looks great in her making ofs with minimal make up.

Her photoshoots are one of the things that I really like about her. She always looks so on-point it's amazing.

I dislike plenty of things but Ayu is only human One thing I will complain about though is her lack of risk taking. Sure there's B&D and a few others (I can't think of much else) but overall it's always the same pop, ballads, awesome rock song with freakish PV, rock, rock ballads. Catch my drift? Doesn't matter if she does her stuff well, I want her to try new styles x3!

I don't really think that's Ayu's fault though.. she releases what fits and what works with the season. People want to have a summer fun song to drive to the beach to and all that... and people also want wintry ballads to listen to while cuddling with their lover[s].

Ayu isn't the only artist that follows the whole "single during this season... and then an album every year around this time" as there are plenty of other artists who release in the exact manner she does. It's because the formula "works" with the purchasing habits of the Japanese public [and avex's bank account..]~

And regarding her photoshoots. I think she's looked a lot less on-point with recent covers.. disregarding Mirrorcle World, I'd say that glitter, t2m, A BEST 2, and GUILTY were all very lukewarm-ish covers. They lacked the oomph that Ayu releases usually have. glitter had too much forehead and bad hair, t2m started her strange "smile-bite-thing", A BEST 2 was scary, and GUILTY felt... meh. [like how CD only has random blurriness in the skirt section due to wind-blowing... couldn't they have taken more shots?]~

Since when does dance = Yasutaka Nakata? His style is very different from most mainstream dance music, it's more electronica. Ayumi doesn't necessarily need to do that sort of thing, just any dance music would be better than the faux-hard rock she favors lately.
